Los Santos: On the early evening of January 15, a 911 call was routed to the Los Santos Police Department, informing officers of a shootout occurring at the Los Santos Terminal, located in the Port of Los Santos, near Cypress Flats and El Burro Heights. Officers responded to investigate the incident.
Once officers arrived on the scene, two separate scenes were established. Investigators were handling two deceased on the entry ramp to the parking lot, while other officers manned a scene at the larger shipping yard between the containers when shots began to be fired. Officers immediately responded, which saw the beginning of a relatively lengthy stand-off.
One detective of the Los Santos Police Department was known to have been shot and was later confirmed to have succumbed to his wounds. The stand-off was concluded when officers forced entry into the underground vantage point and incapacitated the shooter, who was later identified as the suspect responsible for the murder of the detective.
During the stand-off, officers handling scene security were engaged in a firefight with outside actors, who were assumed to have been associated with the incapacitated suspect. One officer assigned to scene security got injured but was immediately transported to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
At its conclusion, four individuals were found to have been deceased from the initial shootout, one officer was injured but is set to make a recovery, and one detective was deceased. One suspect was arrested in the murder of the detective.
The Los Santos Police Department mourns the loss of the police detective killed in the line of duty during this incident and remembers all first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Never will we forget those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others. The dedication this detective had to the City of Los Santos will never be forgotten. Our hearts are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer.
