San Andreas Judicial Branch Bench Trials Now Available for Felony Cases "EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW" |

The San Andreas Judicial Branch is pleased to announce a significant procedural update: felony cases are now eligible for bench trials. This change marks a pivotal step in enhancing judicial efficiency and offering a more streamlined option for case resolution.
In general court cases typically take months to complete and review complex evidence. However Bench Trials ask defendants to participate from the point the submit their wish to contest their charges. It requires the defendant to file availability and work with both the court and their defense counsel, making it beneficial for all involved.
Under the updated policy, either the prosecution or defense may file a motion for a change in venue, explicitly requesting a bench trial. This motion will be subject to the following process:
- Filing the Motion: The party requesting the bench trial must submit a formal motion to the court.
- Opposition Response: The opposing party will have the opportunity to affirm or object to the motion.
- Judicial Review: A judge will then review the motion and the responses from both sides to determine the best path forward.
The option for bench trials in felony cases is expected to benefit parties who believe their case can be more effectively adjudicated by a judge rather than a jury, offering an alternative avenue for justice in the legal system of San Andreas.
