Chief's Message - September 2024

Los Santos: As the Los Santos Police Department concludes the month of August, Chief Elena Flores extends a message of reflection and addresses the accomplishments, challenges, and future endeavors of the Department.

Chief Elena Flores wrote: As August concludes and ebbs away, we slowly but surely begin to move towards the end of the summer, having entered the last month before moving into fall.
The Los Santos Police Department has had a notable month, particularly highlighted by the apprehension of Sophia Falcone, a fugitive who managed to orchestrate and make her escape from the custody of the Department of Corrections towards the end of August. Through strenuous efforts, detectives of the gang unit and supporting officers apprehended Falcone at the end of a long operation.
Our traffic division has continued its efforts of tackling motor vehicle thefts, especially in highly populated areas, by conducting operations, such as a bait car operation, in collaboration with investigators of the Detective Bureau. Carried out in the heart of Los Santos, the operation conducted at Legion Square aimed to thwart aspirations for burglaries and theft in an otherwise largely affected area.
We have seen a further internal restructure with respect to detectives and their duties within the Detective Bureau and the Office of Operations, which aims to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and availability of detective-related personnel, especially in a capacity to support officers and civilians.
Furthermore, the Department's Motor Transport Division reviewed several aspects of "old-timer" vehicles that were still actively utilized in the Department fleet and issued a recall order, allowing them to conduct a more in-depth inspection of these vehicles and whether they are still suitable and safe to be operated by officers.
Los Santos Police Department Command Staff has seen notable adjustments also during the month of August, with the departure of Commander Steve Smyth who transferred to the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, the promotion of Deputy Chief Jaxon Nash, who acts in the capacity of Commanding Officer, Professional Standards Bureau, and the appointment and subsequent promotion of Commander Jessica Nash, who has assumed the role of (Acting) Commanding Officer, Police Training Bureau.
On a final note, I wish to use this opportunity to express once more my gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of not only our officers, but also the deputies of the Sheriff's Department, all government workers, and every citizen who has contributed to making the City of Los Santos a better, safer place.
The Los Santos Police Department is committed to ensuring and protecting the safety and security of citizens and tourists of Los Santos to the highest standards of law enforcement. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our ranks. If you are inspired to make a difference in your community, consider a career with LSPD. The LSPD is hiring for the early morning and late night shifts and can be applied to through the online recruitment portal.
