- 3.1) Why are you seeking employment with the San Andreas Judicial Branch? (200 word minimum)
- Throughout my entire life I have watched those around me. I have seen some who were treated unfairly and maybe went down the wrong path, and I have watched those rise above everyone else to show their just nature. This can be seen within my own family. A brother who rose the ranks in LSPD, and a brother who fell into the criminal underground. I personally found myself the warden at SADOC, seeing the worst of the worst come through my doors... but not always. There were also those who were arrested unfairly, treated poorly, and ended up with their life trajectory being changed because of cops who had their own prejudices.
I worked at the DOC for almost 2 full years before realizing that I needed to take a step back and reevaluate everything going on around me. I felt like I reached my limit there, unable to do much more in my time, and that there was something else calling my name. I took time away from everything, living up on a hill raising my children before realizing I needed to take a step further away. I moved across the country and spent time finding what my true calling was. I wanted to make a difference, I needed a project to work on, a new goal, so I set my sights on a law firm that had an amazing track record of helping those falsely accused.
I spent over a year there working as both a paralegal, as well as working on my law degree. After graduation, and just needing to pass my bar exam, I realized it was time to move my family back home and start a career where genuinely it all started for me - Los Santos.
- Honestly I feel like a broken record writing this out and mentioning that I was the previous Warden at SADOC, but it gives you a unique perspective on the judicial system, from arrest, to incarceration where so many lose any hope of ever finding their way back to the light. But - at the end of the day it is relevant experience that does set me apart from so many other applicants. I have seen the worst of the worst, and even in that, saw those who wanted things to be different, but they couldn't access that because of lack of resources. I want to be that resource.
Outside of that though, being the Warden was not my only accomplishment. I also have a family, two children a son and a daughter, and a love for education. I am always willing to learn and adapt what I know based on what is currently seen as best practices. I never stop researching and I never stop trying to better myself. I have lived an interesting life from the start, starting out in Mexico as a child, moving here with our mother when we were still kids, to growing up watching my brothers go in two separate directions.
I found a lot of myself as Warden, but also felt as if I was still here to serve a bigger purpose, and I think this could be it.
- Determined
Determination is a word that has always been a big part of my life. Whenever there was a goal that was placed before me, even if it seemed impossible, I found a way to reach it. This started out as a young child who had 2 older brothers to fight between, and even though they may have been bigger or faster than me, it did not mean that they always won a situation because I used the resources around me to put myself ahead. I proved this again in my adult life by becoming warden at SADOC. At the time I had only been working at the DOC for a few months, but I saw the problems that were in front of me, and I knew that I could push through to find the best way to fix the old DOC. I showed this determination to the commissioners and was appointed to the position even though I might have not had the longest experience in the job.
- During a ride along I was speaking with a member of LSPD who mentioned the lack of lawyers in this city, because I had previous experience working in a law firm and because I have yet to find out exactly what to do since moving back, I searched the government website finding this job listing.
