San Andreas Judicial Branch Associate Justice Daniels Announces Retirement "EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW" |

- Citizens of San Andreas,

Associate Justice Daniels
When I first joined the Judicial Branch, I was seeking a new challenge, a career change from my year and a half tenure as a Sheriff's Deputy. Intrigued by the opportunities at the San Andreas Judicial Branch, I underwent a successful interview with then Attorney General Aurora James, embarking on a path that would profoundly alter my life.
In those early days, our small but dedicated group worked tirelessly to establish the foundations of our branch. Following Chief Justice Mayfeld's retirement and after nearly six months of limited leadership, I was approached about the possibility of stepping into the role of Chief Justice. On January 27th, 2022, I was honored to be appointed by the Board of Commissioners to lead. With my appointment, I also had the privilege of appointing Associate Justice Judith Mason to assist me in managing the day-to-day operations of our branch.
Over the next year and a half, we tirelessly implemented a developmental plan that positioned us at the forefront of statewide change. I am immensely proud of the achievements the branch realized during this time and the enduring friendships forged along the way. In May 2023, I entrusted the leadership to Judith Mason as our next Chief Justice. Although our journey continued with its challenges, it was during the course of this last year that I began to lose the passion I once had for this type of work.
Among the most rewarding aspects of my tenure has been witnessing our team's unwavering dedication and resilience in navigating numerous legal challenges, safeguarding justice principles, and ensuring a fair judicial system for all. It's this collective spirit that propelled our progress and successes throughout the last three plus years.
Moving forward, it's imperative for the branch to adapt to evolving legal landscapes and societal shifts. The cultivation of new talent and leadership is paramount. With capable leadership and the support of our exceptional team, I am confident that the branch will once again thrive and continue to uphold its values.
While my fondness for the Judicial Branch endures, in recent months I have pondered the idea of stepping down from the bench. This contemplation was not taken lightly. After much reflection and numerous discussions with many friends both within and outside the branch, I have come to the conclusion that my retirement is the best course of action at this time. It's been a period of introspection, balancing the demands of the role with my current enthusiasm and capabilities.
Staying in my current position would do a disservice to our dedicated team members who contribute tirelessly daily. It would also risk tarnishing the reputation I've painstakingly built over the years. This realization is difficult but essential for the branch's integrity. My retirement will conclude at the end of the Supreme Courts Judicial Review into Executive Order #7.
I want to take a moment to say thank you to every citizen within our great state for the years of experiences, be they moments of triumph or challenges. Working for the states betterment has been an honor these past few years. Each of you has played an indispensable role in our achievements, and I am deeply appreciative of all of you. As I transition into retirement, I am committed to continuing my support for the branch in a new capacity. I will be donating my time to the branch serving as a civilian advisor, assisting the High Command team, offering insights and opinions on crucial matters. My goal remains steadfast: to contribute positively to the ongoing success and integrity of our Judicial Branch, even in retirement. Thank you all.
