Los Santos: On the 8th of April 2024, the Los Santos Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Division took part in a speed trap operation and traffic checkpoint along San Andreas Avenue, a bustling thoroughfare in downtown Los Santos.
Under the leadership of Traffic Coordinator Police Officer III Mark Payne, the operation unfolded over a duration of approximately an hour, during Monday evening. During this time, amidst routine checks and radar monitoring, the enforcement team identified numerous traffic violations, resulting in several arrests and a number of civilians being issued citations.
However, the most notable event of the operation was a high-speed pursuit involving a Bati 801 that began with a simple traffic stop, after traffic officers clocked the individual going over 120 km/h in an 80 zone. The rider of the motorcycle, a Mr. Marcus Cousins, was given a lawful order to dismount the motorcycle, due to an outstanding misdemeanour. Mr. Cousins refused and instead attempted to evade law enforcement.
Our officers worked swiftly and safely to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion outside the Legion Square Parking lot. This approach and coordinated response of the LSPD underscores the department's steadfast commitment to upholding order and safety on the city's roadways.
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the critical importance of adhering to speed limits and driving safely, particularly in densely populated urban areas like Downtown Los Santos, where pedestrian and vehicular traffic are abundant. Such enforcement efforts are instrumental in promoting responsible driving behavior and safeguarding the well-being of all road users.
It is also understood that in a separate situation, a Mr. Saint Verstappen was also apprehended by Traffic Enforcement Officers, on drug and speeding charges.
