  • Re: Request For information [Weazel News]

Officers are permitted to operate their vehicles at speeds exceeding the established speed limits depending on the code response they are running, which is dependent on the type of call or situation they are responding to.

Officers shall determine the manner in which they should respond to any call or situation based on the context provided to them or on the request of another officer. The use of lights and sirens in any instance is based on the code response applied by the officer. Irrespective of their response codes, public safety is the priority of officers and, as such, they are expected to ensure they remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times when operating their police vehicles.

It is the responsibility of supervisory personnel of the Department to ensure that personnel adhere to the procedures set forth.

  • Respectfully,
