LSEMS Recruitment | Message from the Chief of EMS | Closing Message
December has been quieter (a calm before the storm without a doubt!) with fewer promotions as we have all been enjoying the chocolates, Christmas dinners, and spending time with our close ones. The efforts of our Medics have not gone unnoticed, below you can see the rank and divisional promotions that happened during December.
We have taken part in two events this month, the first in collaboration with DOC, and the other one was for the Mistletoe Market event. You can read below more about how these events went. With the start of 2024, we will be holding a Careers Fair. Stay tuned to hear more about this event as hope we can see you all there.
Senior Paramedic Wesley Moon
Wesley has been a fortress of training of all sorts throughout the month of December, and today we extend our thanks to him for holding down the fort during the quiet month of December. Keep on keeping on!

Advanced Medicine Unit
They have a lot of renewed activity in the division with new members, a restructure, and a rework of our training to match. If you want to go beyond stabilizing patients for transport and really get into treating them, then you're encouraged to look into AMU and start hitting the books.
It's important to be proactive about your health and keep up with preventative care. You can request an appointment through the referral system for a check-up with one of our nurses or doctors. Office hours are in the works to handle walk-ins in the near future!
One of the operating theatres. You don't want to end up in here unless you're in the capable hands of one of our doctors!
Head of AMU: Lynn Foster
Paramedic Lynn Foster finished her training for the Advanced Medicine Unit, or AMU, on the 26th of May 2023 becoming a Nurse and since then she has been hard at work for the division. She finished her training in less than a month to become a certified Doctor and continue her work taking on more responsibility and being able to provide a wider range of help to injured patients. It didn't take long for the head of AMU at the time to recognize her hard work and on the 12th of September she was promoted to Interim Assistant Head of the Advanced Medicine Division, unfortunately, the Medic that was heading the division at the time left MD not too long after and Lynn Foster had to take on a bit more responsibility in the division. She immediately got to work on making more improvements within the division and on the 26th of November she was appointed Interim Head of AMU and has been working tirelessly on improvements for the division since.
Lynn is well known for being a Medic that is always ready to help even sacrificing a good part of her time off to go to Pillbox and assist so be sure to be nice and say hello to her if you ever bump into her.
With the year 2023 over, we will take a look back to see the progress in the department over the year.

- On Sunday the 10th of December, LSEMS was invited to assist in the Winter Wonderland, an event hosted by the Department of Corrections. The event was held at Trixie's farm, We had music played by DJ Quiet, festive food, a gingerbread house contest, sleigh rides, there where Reindeers for everyone to be able to pet, a Santa for everyone to meet and take a photo with and a Quad race.
The Quad race was the section handled by LSEMS, we designed the course and provided the Quad bikes for those who had signed up to be able to race their friends on a track covered in snow and with festive snowman obstacles.
The event went smoothly for the most part, everyone was happy doing some laps or racing their friends on the track. To ensure no one got hurt we had some medics overseeing the track as well as ambulances on stand-by to transport anyone who got hurt to the closest hospital, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping as it would not have been possible without them.
Unfortunately, close to the end a group of unknown individuals decided to bomb a Government helicopter that was parked at the event and we had to finish the event for everyone's safety, but thankfully our heroes in red were fast to respond. Our trained firefighters moved quickly and made sure the fire would be contained and would not spread as they quickly doused the fire stopping the fire in its tracks.
Despite the way the event ended together with DOC a total of $524,000 was raised to fund the FRD program at DOC as well as to fund the adoption of k9s.

Gunshot Wounds
The rule of thumb is to do whatever you can to stop the bleeding present
- Use scissors to cut around the clothing at the location of the gunshot wound.
- Apply gauze pads to the open GSW, applying pressure
- Continue applying pressure to the wound until the bleeding stops
- Wrap a pressure bandage or rolled gauze around the wound and gauze pads
- Call 911 and await assistance from medics.
If the gunshot wound is on the chest or stomach then don't apply pressure.
Mistletoe Markets
On the 17th of December, our team participated in an extremely pleasurable and entertaining event known as the Mistletoe Markets. Various departments throughout San Andreas such as the LSPD and DCC were provided booths to showcase their amazing work. Our team here at the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services was given their own booth as well! We were able to provide people insight regarding our employment opportunities, BLS courses, and even ask people trivia questions! The LSEMS booth was a huge hit! Our team asked people various questions regarding how to treat injuries. A vast 38 people took the opportunity to test their medical knowledge. Nearly 20% of people did not know how to properly treat their injuries. Governor Lewis Langley, police officers, and even our very own off-duty medics participated in our trivia! The citizens of San Andreas took the opportunity to meet our employees, interact with them, and learn who we truly are. It was an amazing opportunity for our team to be able to get to know each other, but also others.
Overall, the Mistletoe Markets event was a great place to be on this joyful day! There was a go-cart track, bean bag stall, a skit from DOC, and even Santa Claus! This event not only brought together the people of San Andreas, but it was an amazing bonding experience for the members of LSEMS. This was the perfect final event for 2023, and we unequivocally hope for even more in 2024!

Charges Information
There are multiple felonies and charges that will default the application status as DENIED regardless of references, letters of recommendation, or programs passed**:
There are multiple felonies and charges that will set the application status as DENIED unless the applicant successfully underwent SADOC's Felon Reformation Program:
Additionally, Firearm Possession Charges are categorized as such:
Felonies that are outside the charges mentioned above have a wait time of 6 months*.
Other Misdemeanors that are outside the charges mentioned above have a wait time of 2 months*
NOTE* The applicant may go through the San Andreas Department of Correction's Felon Reformation Program before applying and provide a reference for the recruitment personnel to review in order to shorten the wait time. Undergoing the Felon Reformation Program does not guarantee leniency, as applicants' criminal records are considered on a case-by-case basis, and on the other hand, we may be more lenient towards one-time offenders than repeat ones.
Additionally, employment with a clean track record within more lenient government-funded organizations, agencies, companies, and firms may contribute positively toward each individual case.
NOTE** Only in cases of charges that are 12 months or older, special reviews may take place for one-time offenders for charges that are otherwise entirely eliminatory. These reviews would require substantial feedback from another government-funded employer.
Should you wish to verify or get more information on the subject of criminal records and their interaction(s) with our recruitment procedures, contact ✉︎ Emilia Thalmer or ✉︎ Grant Adams.
