Colored Vehicle Headlights

Los Santos: A trend has shown that a significant amount of drivers within the State of San Andreas operate their vehicles with headlights deemed to be of inappropriate color.

Dictated by the San Andreas Penal Code, specifically per VC10 - Unroadworthy Vehicle, a vehicle is required to have white- or yellow-colored lamps and reflectors when operating on public roads. A vehicle may only have differently colored lamps and reflectors when the vehicle is due to attend a vehicle-related event, and may then only travel from its home destination to the event and back. In this case, the driver is expected to provide proof of attendance to law enforcement officers upon request.

A common misconception by members of the public is that, due to the availability of a wide variety of lamp colors in the catalogs of actively operating mechanic workshops and garages, the ability to have colored lamps installed by a mechanic signifies that it is legal. It is not the responsibility of the workshop, garage, or specific mechanic to ensure that the owner and driver of a vehicle follow all codes of law.

Operating a vehicle on public roads, without attending a vehicle-related event with presentable proof of attendance, with lamps and reflectors colored in colors differing from white or yellow will result in a citation for operating an unroadworthy vehicle. State law further dictates that, based on the discretion of the handling law enforcement officer, unroadworthy vehicles further be impounded if it is found to be unsafe.
