[Information] Background Check Policy

Post by State Government »

Introduction
  • The Business Licensing Bureau is pleased to introduce our third revision of our Background Policy Check. A key goal of the San Andreas State Government, and the Business Licencing Bureau is the continued improvement of our services and offering, and this revision is part of our internal reviews.

    The Business Licensing Bureau's background policy should always reflect what is best for our citizens, and best for the private sectors' economy within San Andreas, and we are confident in our changes to our penalty system, and our accommodations for the Felon Reformation Program, in relation to citizens licenses, that we are taking continuous steps towards a more flexible and approachable system.
New Penalty System
  • On the first of every month when a business owner pays their monthly licensing fees, they undergo a background check to ensure that they are still clear from any of the outlined disqualifying charges. In a situation where a business owner is found to have been charged with one of the 6 Month Disqualifying Charges or above; they will receive a fine from the Business Licensing Bureau.

    These changes are the result of thorough internal reviews of our current processes, and it was found to have unintended consequences. A subsequent review was undertaken, and it was decided the new policy would be based on a fines based system. The business licensing bureau feels this will adequately punish individuals who commit infractions, without overtly threatening their established business, which in turn we feel is more appropriate and a much fairer system for all of our citizens.

    Every repeated offence of a failed background check will be met with an additional fine being issued to the business owner, which will increase in value

    The specific fine amounts can be found below:
    • First Offense - 1 Month of Licensing Fees
    • Second Offense - 2 Months of Licensing Fees
    • Third Offense - 3 Months of Licensing Fees
    • Fourth Offense - 4 Months of Licensing Fees
    • Fifth Offense and onward - 6 Months of Licensing Fees
    For a reference of the most up to date list of disqualifying charges, please refer to the Business Registration Process or the SASG Licensing Process
((OOC Note))
  • ((With the first policy that was in place, if a business owner was charged with one of the disqualifying charges, they would have their business seized and removed from their ownership. The second policy gave business owners more leniency by implementing a strike system and suspending their business operations, however, there was still the possibility for the business to be seized if the owner were to get a certain amount of strikes in one year. This latest update to the policy will only issue fines to the owner, their business will not be taken away from them permanently as a consequence of their roleplay style.
    ))
