Los Santos: In a major joint operation with the internal name Operation Sunset, the Detective Bureau and the Metropolitan Division of the Los Santos Police Department have successfully cracked down on a large-scale weapon trafficking and importing ring. This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in the fight against illegal firearms and gang violence. Operation Sunset takes its name from the symbolism of a sunset marking the end of the day. The Detective Bureau strives to put an end to gang violence, illegal weapon trafficking, and other operations that undermine the safety and security of the city, and at the conclusion of this operation, the sun has set on one more organization, for now.

The Detective Bureau initiated investigations into this criminal network in early August, uncovering a sophisticated weapon trafficking and importing operation that posed a serious threat to public safety. After diligent and thorough investigations, search warrants were obtained and approved on August 6. Careful planning in conjunction with the command team of the Metropolitan Division ensured that the operation ran smoothly.

Over the course of three evenings, a total of 17 residences were raided by a joint task force consisting of members of the Detective Bureau and Metropolitan Division. During several of these raids, targeted gangs organized ambushes in an attempt to prevent the capture of their illegal items, resulting in firefights.

The seamless coordination and combined resources of both units played a crucial role in the success of the operation. Despite facing organized ambushes from gangs associated with the targeted criminal network, Officers exhibited bravery and skill, effectively neutralizing the threats and securing the seized items.

The seized items include:

  • 1 Class 3 firearm
  • 111 Class 2 firearms
  • 140 Class 1 firearms
  • 20,612 rounds of various types of ammunition
  • 80 weapon modifications
  • 1,806 units of drugs
  • 2,817 units of drug paraphernalia and chemicals
  • 30 units of drug manufacturing equipment
  • 26 pieces of body armor

All things considered, Operation Sunset has been the largest operation with the largest seizure of illegal items in the history of the Los Santos Police Department. The total value of the seizures is estimated to exceed $9,000,000.

These figures highlight the magnitude of the criminal network that law enforcement is facing up against. The weapons seized alone could have fueled gang violence and other criminal activities throughout the city for months, making this operation a significant victory in the fight against organized crime. The collaboration between the Detective Bureau and Metropolitan Division showcases the dedication, skill, and professionalism of the Los Santos Police Department in protecting the community and upholding the law.

The Los Santos Police Department is proud of the efforts of its officers in this operation and acknowledges that it is through their dedication and hard work that such impressive results have been achieved. The commitment to serving and protecting the community is unwavering, and operations like this demonstrate the Department's determination to create a safer and more secure city for everyone.

As the sun sets every night, it will undoubtedly rise again in the morning. However, with this success, the Los Santos Police Department looks to the future with optimism and a renewed sense of purpose. The fight against illegal firearms and gang violence continues, and the dedicated officers of the Detective Bureau and Metropolitan Division stand ready to face any challenges that may arise. Their remarkable effort in this operation serves as an inspiration to all and reinforces the resolve to keep Los Santos safe.
