License Revocation and The Future of Form B / C

Los Santos: The Firearms Licensing Division would like to inform the general public about important and significant changes to our policies regarding convicted criminals and the licensing of Firearms.

These changes are currently not live but will be enforced when the applications re-open.

Currently, for convicted criminals looking to apply for a firearm license, they will either have to go through Form B for less-significant crimes or Form C for the significant crimes. These came with either three month wait period or an eighteen month wait period. With the advancement of our Penal Code and the anticipated increase in interest for firearms licenses with new stock being available, we have re-reviewed this policy and have made several significant changes.

Form B and Form C
Moving forward, there will be no more Form B & C as you currently know them. Instead, we have designated all charges that come with a revoke of a Firearm License a level, depending on the severity of the charge. The level of the charge will designate how long you must wait after losing your firearm license for committing a crime before you can apply for a new one.
  • Level Four Offence: Permanent Exclusion from Firearm Licensing, subject to Governor Appeal.
  • Level Three Offence: Six month wait period.
  • Level Two Offence: Three month wait period.
  • Level One Offence: One month wait period.
Months are defined as, same number, different month i.e. 15th of July to 15th of August.
You can view the classification of each charge and it's wait period, in the spoiler below.

(( Ultimately, this change was as motivated by OOC reasoning as IC. 18 months is a long time in the server and as such, we do want to encourage redemption possibilities for characters where it might make sense, in a lenient and appropriate time-frame while acknowledging in-character consequences. ))

Current Firearm Licenses
Given the re-classification of different charges to different wait periods, we will be honouring currently active firearm licenses that have been issued under the old system. If you have are currently licensed but have committed a crime that would disqualify you permanently from a firearm license in the new system, you will keep your license until such time as you commit a crime that would cause your firearm license to be revoked. However, once you lose your firearm license, the new system would take over and you'd be permanently disqualified from holding a firearm license ever again.

Gang Affiliation
If you are found to be in possession of a firearm license but are classified as an affiiliate of an organised crime group, your firearm license will be revoked for a period of at least, three months.

General FLD Breaches
Should you fail to follow the rules and regulations outlined in this post here while in possession of a firearms license, your firearm license will be revoked for a period of at least, one month.

Governor Appeal
As specified above, in the case of being permanently disqualified from having a firearm license, you must appeal through the Governors. The process for doing so, is not currently available but will be in due course through the Governor's Office and will be the only decision of Firearm Licensing separate from the Los Santos Police Department. Details on the availability of the Governor's Appeal will be made though the San Andreas State Government.

Wait Period Precedence
If you are on a wait period for a firearm license re-application, if you commit new offences that are longer than your initial wait period, the time will increase to match that level. For example, waiting on a level 1 charge and committing a level 3 charge will upgrade your wait time to six months from the date you committed that level 3 offence.
