2. REQUEST INFORMATION
  • Detailed information of your request:
    • To whom it may concern,

After going through some of the firearms stores, I have noticed some stores have stock of pump action shotguns inside of their stores, and that raises a question that I would like to have answered.

As to my knowledge, pump action shotguns are currently not legal to own and use outside of the jurisdictions of Law Enforcement Officers, SADOC, and SAGOV's GSB.

This may not be the correct place for this inquiry, but I would like to know the legality of store owners having ample stock of pump action shotguns with the intent to sell them, and if changes would eventually happen to allow citizens to purchase and use the shotguns for uses such as hunting for big game, and other legal things of that nature.

  • Kind regards,

  • Dear @Jessica Winger ,

At this time the Firearms Licensing Division of the Los Santos Police Department is working its hardest to rework all the regulations on all guns obtainable by citizens,

for more information about that, I kindly ask you to be patient and keep up with the announcements done by the Division found here.

  • Ms. Winger,

The reality is that while the sale of shotguns in the State of San Andreas are a potential option for gun store owners, there are legitimate concerns which need to be carefully considered and addressed before any shotgun is legally purchasable in the State.

No one in the State currently has the legal authorisation to purchase a shotgun as a civilian, as no shotgun licenses have been handed out or applied for. It is a discussion that we are having internally with the Firearm Licensing Division but it's not something that has to be rushed into. Safety of the State's population is of the upmost importance to the LSPD and how we proceed will be with that in mind, first and foremost.

Dear Deputy Chief Bala,

I appreciate the response and thank you for the time of reading through my inquiry. You mentioned that it would be a potential option, and that there are not legally for sale.

I would like to note that multiple stores that sell firearms actively have stock of shotguns that are for sale at the time of typing this response. Is it legal for store owners to own them with the intent to distribute them at this time?

And if they are not, are there going to be plans to seize those shotguns?

  • Ms. Winger,

The gun stores are absolutely fine to stock up on shotguns with a view to selling them to citizens with the license to legally possess one in the State. There has not been any licensing of shotguns through the Firearm Licensing Division, as of yet, so in theory, no one should have bought one.

There are no plans to seize the shotguns from the stores, no.
