The Lifeguard Division

Lifeguards are an important division to LSEMS, providing safety amongst our seas, lakes and the large dam! You can feel safe in the water knowing we are around. Lifeguards have saved many civilians from water related incidents. We have also patrolled along events that are based by bodies of water so everyone can feel they are looked after. We have some fantastic training and high grade equipment so we are fully equipped for the job. Main water ways that we patrol are: Vespucci Beach, Del Perro Beach, Vespucci Canals, Lake Vinewood, Land Act Dam / Resevoir, Alamo Sea and Procopio Beach.
What Lifeguards Do!

My goal for the Lifeguard division is to ensure that people are able to visit the beach and not have to worry about possible dangers. We work very hard to maintain healthy beaches and marine life, and I am very proud of every lifeguard we have.

Keeping yourself safe at different spots can be used to every civilians advantage. Whilst yes you should always call us in an emergency, this does not mean you cannot help. Have something near by that can float? Throw it in and allow them to stay afloat in the water. Do you know BLS? You can sign up to one of our BLS courses if you have not yet done so, this will ensure you can help others too and their well-being.

What should you not do in an emergency at the water?
  • > If on the pier, Do Not jump in, this could likely cause a larger scene and put more lives at risk
  • > Do Not take any electricals in the water
  • > Do Not be under the Influence when planning to go swimming
  • > Even if you are a strong swimmer, Do Not underestimate the water
Finally, should you come across any sea life of any kind, you can ask us any information you would like to know regarding injuries from sea life such as: Sea Urchins, Jelly Fish, Sharks, Cone Snails and Stingrays.
