Traits & Motivations
Please provide a short biography about yourself (minimum 100 words):
My name is Tyron Floyd. My childhood was had many low points as I was abandoned by my biological parents and taken in by a kind-hearted couple who adopted me. As a young man, I felt a sense of duty towards my country and joined the military. I served for 8 years and was deployed to several cities around the world. During this time, I saw and experienced things that no person should ever have to. The exposure to death and destruction eventually took its toll, and I was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. Since then, I've worked hard on myself and have been maintaining consistent employment as a roadway worker.
I plan on working at least full time and willing to do overtime if necessary.
Hiring me as a correctional officer would bring a unique skill set to your team. My 8 years of military experience and roadway work have provided me with discipline, leadership, and communication skills necessary to be a successful correctional officer. I have the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, as well as the critical thinking skills to assess and solve problems.
My experience has given me a strong understanding of teamwork and the importance of following protocols and regulations. My expertise in conflict resolution is a particular asset in the correctional setting where maintaining order and de-escalating potentially violent situations are critical. I believe my experience and skills make me a well-suited candidate for the position of correctional officer, and I am confident that I can make a positive contribution to the team.
Very well. In high pressure moments I fall back on my military training.
I believe that I possess several positive traits, including strong communication skills, attention to detail, physical fitness, conflict resolution skills, empathy, critical thinking skills, ethics and integrity, and teamwork. I also have a calm and composed demeanor, am comfortable handling high-stress situations, maintaining a professional attitude, and am committed to maintaining order and safety within the facility. I believe you need to be compassionate and fair but firm when necessary, and be are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of the inmates.
