2. REQUEST INFORMATION
  • Detailed information of your request:
    • Regarding the policies surrounding firearm ownership and guidelines and with reference to [Information] Obtaining a Personal Firearms Permit''.

Are Law Enforcement Officers with the Los Santos Police Department instructed/allowed to, solely based on someone having a weapon, to identify someone and request their firearms license.

Example: John Doe is walking at legion square on a regular day. John Doe is dressed casually with no face concealment. John Doe has a weapon holstered on his hip. Would LSPD employees be able to stop and identify John Doe solely based on his weapon possession?

  • Dear Mr. Raven,

As per the rules and restrictions listed on a firearms application, all licensed firearms holders have agreed to not "Refuse to show the license or surrender the personal firearm to any peace officer upon demand" when signing their firearms license application. This allows law enforcement officers de jure and de facto permission to request any individual carrying a firearm to provide their identification and firearms license at any given time.

I hope this response has satisfied your inquiry. Should you have any, feel free to follow through with any further questions. Otherwise, this request will be archived within 48 hours.

    With regards,
