San Andreas State Government

INTRODUCTION
  • Since the dawn of the San Andreas State Government, laws and the penalties for breaking said laws have been developed and implemented by the Board of Commissioners. This system has helped to keep balance in a state accustomed to gang violence and terrorist threats. However, as our state has grown and our government matured, the times have changed and people want to me more involved in the discussions on what the policies of the state should to look like. Introducing, the Law Review Committee.

    The Law Review Committee (LRC) has the objective of bringing a legislative assembly to the State of San Andreas and enabling citizens and government agency's alike a more fluid and streamlined process for modifying the laws of the state such as those found in the Penal Code.

    Similar in style to an American House of Representatives with elements of a UK House of Commons, the LRC will be comprised of four appointed members one for each of LSPD, LSSD, LSEMS, & SADOC, and four elected members chosen by the people of San Andreas. The body will also have a delegate from each SAJB & SASG.
OBJECTIVES
  • The Law Review Committees purpose and main objectives can be summarized by order of priority in the four bullet points below.
    1. Introduce & Amend laws for official enrollment into the San Andreas Penal Code.
    2. Introduce resolutions to modify LRC procedure, to honor a fallen hero, or proclaim support for an event of important community significance such as pride month.
    3. Introduce bylaws for specific regions of the state. An example would be modifying parking bylaws on the pier.
    4. Establish sub-committees to investigate the day-to-day business of the executive & judicial branches of the SASG.
Job Opportunities
  • The Law Review Committee (LRC) is hiring individuals with a passion for law and representative democracy who are ready to assist the state in the development of this exciting new program. A body like this requires a mind familiar with executive and judicial processes, familiarity with how a legislative assembly operates, and a willingness to put differences aside.

    Spoiler Alert! In addition, if you want to learn about how we operate prior to becoming an elected representative, this is a great opportunity!

PUBLIC ELECTIONS
  • Members of the public may apply to become elected into one of the four seats on the Law Review Committee, who will then be invited to introduce bills and resolutions to the Law Review Committee to be voted on and adopted. Additionally, representatives will maintain the four key areas of responsibility highlighted above.

    Voting will be done "At-Large", with the 4 most voted & eligible candidates being accepted. A candidacy application is required, more information can be found linked below. It will be open to those without a serious criminal background.
EXTRA INFORMATION
  • Please keep in mind that this project is highly experimental and we are still working on developing the concepts, but Ms. Whitehorse is very excited to see what they can accomplish! Currently, votes have been taken on H.R.1, H.R.2, and H.R.3 (House Resolutions) with the process publicly documented, which you can see by clicking here.
    OOC Rules
    ((
    Due to the complexities of such a system, anyone who becomes a member will be required to abide by the rules set forth below;

    * Members must make choices that make sense to the character being played and their current situation, do not make biased choices on OOC factors such as the ideals of an alt character or OOC personal belief.

    * In the event that an unforeseen gridlock was to occur outside the bounds of reasonable RP, the Speaker of the House or Chair of the Congress (Depending on who is Appointed by the Board of Commissioners) may intervene to resolve the manner, but will make every effort to consult the parties affected by the change.

    * INTERVENTION FROM BOC / LFM: The Law Review Committee is an attempt to mimic a legislative arm of the government, and while such an arm is very extensive in real life, we've incorporated our own version into the government. As uncle Ben once said, with great power, there must also come great responsibility, and it's important that decisions are taken with realism and the server environment in mind. For example, the Law Review Committee would, without considerable consideration, be unable to legalize Assault Rifles, or add an absurd amount of prison time or fine as a penalty. The Board of Commissioners (BOC) and Legal Faction Management (LFM) reserve the right to intervene and obstruct a proposal if the proposal is believed to jeopardize aspects of the community in either RP quality or general gameplay balance.
    ))
RESIGNATION OF SOLOMON COBB
  • * The San Andreas State Government wishes to thank Director Solomon Cobb for his assistance ever since his initial appointment as Director of Public Services on the 3rd of April, 2022. Thanks to Director Cobbs tireless efforts, press releases like these have released much more commonly, providing members of the public more more updated and accurate information on the policies of the San Andreas State Government. In addition, his sweeping changes to our public outreach campaigns have meant government officials have had more face to face interaction with members of the public. We wish Cobb a happy retirement as he opens a new chapter in his life.
