2. REQUIREMENTS & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- CONGRESSIONAL ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS
➤ Congressional assistants are the backbone of the San Andreas Congress, working both on administrative tasks as well as assisting representatives and delegates. Individuals chosen for this position within the Law Review Committee must be detail orientated and be willing to work across party lines to ensure the flow of the legislative process is maintained. This position is great for those who see themselves becoming a representative in the future, but want to understand the ins & outs of the assembly prior to seeking election. Additional qualifications include;
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a legal citizen residing in the State of San Andreas.
- Must not be affiliated with any criminal groups, in or outside of San Andreas.
- Must not have any previous felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, and must be free from minor misdemeanors (e.g. reckless driving) for at least 60 days from applying.
- Must be willing to learn and adapt over time, including continuing education on how legislative bodies assemble and operate.
- Must be open to remaining non-partisan (unbiased) and strive for a better legislative process, one must not to advocate for laws you want to see introduced or trick representatives into drafting bills worded to your taste.
- POTENTIAL PD/SD/MD/DOC APPLICANTS: Due to concerns of conflicting interests with each department having a member of the committee, employees actively working in the aforementioned departments may only reach the rank of Senior Congressional Staff (Senior Official). Individuals may be considered for the position of House Clerk (Lead Official) only with the approval from the highest ranking LRC member.
- Familiarity with representative democracy in a western context is an asset.
- Having a Bar License in good standing with the San Andreas Bar Association is an asset.
- Experience working in government, particularly on both the executive and judicial level is appreciated.
- Those who appreciate constitutional documents & practices, and are familiar with some constitutional principles are likely to be considered.

Applicants may not have any admin logs for a minimum of 30 days prior to the time of application.- Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
- Applicants must be able to speak the English language fluently and be proficient with English grammar and spelling.
- You must be able to spend at least five(5) hours weekly at a minimum to your GOV character.

3. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- JOB SUMMARY
➤ As a Congressional Assistant of the LRC, your primary duties will be to assist the house clerks and speakers though filing clerical paperwork & developing official documentation. Depending on your skills, some may be selected by a serving representative to help develop the language of a bill, or be an intermediary to explain the legislative process.
With further promotion, one can expect to join either the congressional division or the administrative division of the LRC. The congressional division will see congressional assistants further develop into the role of house clerk and eventually as a deputy speaker, a leadership position that controls the manner of debate within the chambers. The administrative division oversees all nonpolitical aspects of the assembly and provides for the transition of elected and appointed representatives. The administrative division also works to preserve the ethical and procedural rules of the chambers.
Additional responsibilities include;
- Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the LRC.
- Provide clerical and administrative support for LRC staff & representatives.
- Work with representatives to develop the language of bills & resolutions.
- Work alongside the administrative division to support elections when called, including taking part in the official count of ballets as needed.
- Take part in continuing education on legislative systems and processes.
- Further responsibilities as required and developed, including divisions potentially developed by yourself!
