2. REQUEST INFORMATION
Detailed information of your request:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am currently writing an article on the legal gun trade within the state, and I would appreciate some statistics that the LSPD could provide. It would be helpful to find out the number of currently registered firearms in the state as well as the number of accepted firearm applications for the month of September 2022 as well as the number of firearms registrations for September 2022.
I would also appriciate the number of arrests made for gun related offences in the month of September 2022.
Kind Regards,
Herrman Wolff

Re: Request for Information [Weazel News]
Herman Wolff,
Thank you for contacting the Los Santos Police Department's Media Relations Division pertaining to your inquiry.
During the month of September, an estimated total of 93 firearms applications were accepted, and a permit was issued as a result. This has been determined based on the documented issuance records and may be off by one to four applications, taking into consideration the transition of August into September and September into October. Furthermore, 26 firearms permits were revoked throughout September, though this does not accurately reflect the time of issuance of said revoked permits.
Based on a review and manual counting of documented arrests in the month of September, a total of 147 arrests occurred for or including gun-related offenses. This rounds out to an estimated 16.54% of all arrests conducted in September, based on the number provided for documented arrests in the September Monthly Newsletter.
Unfortunately, the Los Santos Police Department cannot, with ease, provide the number of total registered firearms in the state, or the number of registrations that occurred during the month of September, as this would require the Los Santos Police Department to run a check on all license holders that had an application accepted, dating back over four years. We advise attempting to get insight into the records of licensed firearm retailers within the state to potentially obtain monthly numbers.
I hope to have informed and assisted you sufficiently. Respectfully,
Assistant Chief Elena Blake
