  • At this point it is no secret that an incident happened at the Palmer Taylor Power Plant, causing power to go out state-wide. There has been speculation from numerous sources as to the cause of the power outage and we are here today with complete transparency to tell you all the truth.

The truth is, the power plant was hit by several explosive charges, strategically placed to maximize the impact on power generation. Experts say it was several C4 charges that were placed and detonated, causing the power to surge and knock out all electricity across the state. The State of San Andreas Government is treating this as an isolated terrorist attack currently.

Within an hour of the blackout, law enforcement and government officials were dispatched to investigate the power plant and discovered the remains of the explosives as well as a large symbol painted on the floor of the car park of a circle with 3 lines through it. A search and rescue mission immediately got conducted and we can confirm there was 0 casualties from the explosion and no further explosive devices were found.

The power station was put on immediate lockdown with the efforts of the Los Santos Police Department to conduct investigations and ensure there were no casualties. Breaking news was issued through Weazel News advising everyone to stay at home and utilize candlelight or other portable light sources until repair efforts could be made.

On the second day, the Public Works Bureau of SASG was deployed with the assistance of other technically-trained government officials to the power plant to begin repair efforts. Within 24 hours, the rubble was cleared and the electricians restored two-thirds of the power to the facility. This allowed essential power to be restored with rolling blackouts until the rest could be fixed.

At this moment we do not have any concrete evidence linking any one particular group or individuals to this attack. Should anyone have information please come forward and contact the LSPD or LSSD.

There have been rumors that an individual warned the government of this impending attack. I want to be clear to everyone that this rumor is false. It is true that an individual did give an extremely vague warning that "something may happen", however, this was several months ago and there were no specifics given. No date, no time, no location, no names. This "information" was not credible in any way and did not allow for any preventative measures from the State Government or Law Enforcement.

How will we prevent this from happening in the future? Moving forward, The San Andreas State Government will be committing funding into backup facilities across the state at key locations from a variety of renewable sources of energy to not have a single point of failure in the worst-case scenario that another attempt would be made. On top of this, you may have seen the executive order published last night when there was a warning of other potential attacks. The government will be working with the Judicial Branch, and Legislative branch to enact emergency powers in times of crisis to allow for faster response in the events of crisis.

The SASG would like to formally thank employees of the LSPD, LSSD, SADOC, and LSEMS for their amazing response to the situation over the last few days. If this incident has proven anything it is that the city can band together when required for the overall safety and well-being of the general public.

In times such as these, we all need to take a stand against terrorism and remember that regardless of political stances and walks of life, we all live in the State of San Andreas and we need to be a united front against those that wish to make threats against us.
