Traits & Motivations
Please provide a short biography about yourself (minimum 100 words):
Marco Rivera, a 25-year-old male. A native of Italy, born on 17 September 1997, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 8 with my parents chasing the ''American Dream''. But what was waiting for me in the US was far from a dream. It was more of a nightmare. When I turned 16 and unlike any normal kid I was working a half-time job to help my father pay the rent while also attending school. My grades weren't the greatest but they got me through high school. Although, due to the outrageous cost of education I had to drop my dream of becoming a lawyer and find a full-time job.
If hired, I will be willing to put all my time and energy into my work as I am heavily dedicated to my career. With that being said, I can confidently say that I will be there for at least 7 hours a week.
My interest in SADOC was sparked by several factors, first and foremost I have a strong desire to clean up crime-ridden streets and make communities safer, even though I will not be doing the arrests myself. Being a correctional officer plays a big role in keeping the criminals off the streets and reforming them so they no longer pose a threat. Another factor is that the SADOC and unlike many other departments provides stable employment. After all, society will continue to require prisons, and correctional officers can't be replaced. And most importantly the fact that Correctional officers face challenges every day, whether from disruptive prisoners or gang violence inside the prison walls. And I myself find those challenges very exciting. I am mostly looking for a career that doesn't get boring and pushes me every day. I believe that I should be hired over other applicants because I possess many qualities that I will state in the question below.
It's worth the mention that each situation will be treated differently depending on what it is. But if we are talking in general then I handle stressful situations by firstly understanding the situation. I will take some time to think about the situation I'm facing and look at all my available solutions before making any decision. I also commit to a positive attitude that always helps me through whatever the situation is. Before taking action I usually consult with the people around me or my co-workers to see their point of view too.
I possess a couple of qualities that will help me through my time in DOC and make me a valuable asset to the department. The most important ones are that I am good at teamwork and being part of an organized squad or team with a specific goal. I also am patient and I am a good talker and an interactive person and a good communicator which gives me the ability to negotiate with people and calm some down whenever needed.

Yes, I've had a few breaches and most recently a permanent ban which took place 8 months ago on the 12th of December for failure to report rule breachers/evaders. I was unbanned yesterday due to my good standing within the community prior to my ban in what was described as a rare case.

Not exactly IRL experience, but more of a long time doing RP as LEO/Crim.
I do.
I am.
/me is a third-person command that's used to describe your character's actions in detail and it's mostly used for actions that do not have any scripted animation.
''/me moves his hand slowly towards his upper left pocket, takes out a brown leather wallet and grabs an ID card. Then proceeds to put the wallet back in his pocket.''
/do is a first-person command that's used for many things, mainly it's to ask for the other participants' permission for an action such as cuffing or searching them. And it's also used to describe certain objects that surround you RPly or things that you possess that's visible to other players RPly but not scriptly
''/do Would the person resist?'' (that's in a case of cuffing someone)
