  • Highway and traffic enforcement is within the foundation of what makes a safe county. Helping prevent Motor Vehicle Accidents or making sure everyone is following the speed limit and traffic maneuvers that they should be on the highway and county. This is why the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department takes so much pride in our Highway Enforcement Division (H.E.D). Recently so, H.E.D conducted a “Traffic Weekend” where we gathered as a division to directly impact and reduce the traffic laws being broken to our greatest extent. Overall the event came to great success, some statistics include 22 Traffic Stops, 2 Operations, 16 Citations, and 3 Demerits. All in the span of 3 days! Congratulations to Master Deputy Filmoore Grayson in getting the most amount of points during the event. Followed closely behind was both Deputy Sheriff III Audrey Hartwell and Deputy Sheriff III Kian Lawless. This event came back as a major success within the department, here are some words from Field Agent/Assistant Highway Commander Trent Williams.

Why is Highway Safety so important?

”I feel that enforcing highway safety is one of the most important jobs of the Sheriff's Department, I believe this is so because vehicles are constantly traveling all across county highways.s/freeways, and county roads. In today's day, we use vehicles to get everywhere as our main method of transportation.”

What does HED have planned for the future of highway enforcement that you could reveal?

”Something that HED command will be revealing soon is a new highspeed training program and practice session for its members to ensure that all members are qualified and ready to take on all speeds on the highways/freeways.”

What was your favorite part of the Traffic weekend?

”To me personally it was exciting to set everything up and get everyone to band together for a period of time to be more strict and heavily enforce something that is so crucial to the county.”
