The Los Santos Police Department has become aware of a recently aired broadcast titled "Word On The Streets" spearheaded by a reporter with the Weazel Entertainment News Network.

In this broadcast, Junior Reporter Jaffa Roberts speaks of the Los Santos Police Department, its response to a recent pride event, and the communication from the Department towards the news network. The Department does not often respond to public statements through public releases as the Los Santos Police Department values and encourages differing opinions and viewpoints.

In this instance, however, statements regarding a topic of the utmost importance and relevance in today's society and environment were aired. In light of this media publication, the Los Santos Police Department has decided to release a statement addressing the comments.

During this broadcast, reporter Jaffa Roberts stated that he had reached out to the Los Santos Police Department to gather a statement on what had occurred at the pride rally. Jaffa Roberts is not incorrect in stating that he has reached out to the Police Department, as he submitted a formal request for a meeting on the 9th of June at 10:14 PM.

He [Jaffa Roberts] then states that the "Los Santos Police Department has refused to give any comment and also refused to answer my e-mails,". The Los Santos Police Department has under no circumstances declined or outright refused, as alleged, any request for a comment or statement on the incident. Between the reporter submitting his request for a meeting and the airing of the broadcast in question, less than forty-eight (48) hours had passed to allow the Los Santos Police Department's Media Relations Division personnel to respond to the request. No follow-up e-mails with regard to this request were addressed or sent to the Media Relations Division between submitting the request and airing the broadcast.

Jaffa Roberts went on to further state that "this [the alleged refusal to comment and respond] is further proof that the Los Santos Police Department does not care about the LGBTQIA+ community,". The Los Santos Police Department outright denies the disheartening, slanderous, and unsubstantiated claim that the Department does not care about the LGBTQIA+ community. The Department values and cares for all citizens and strongly encourages and stands with those part of a community or movement, such as the but not limited to LGBTQIA+ community, to pride themselves in being themselves, showcasing their pride to be part of such communities, and standing up for what is right.

The Los Santos Police Department firmly believes that any person should feel comfortable with who they are and should not be subject to judgment for who they are as a person, their gender identity, and their sexuality. As an equal opportunities employer, the Los Santos Police Department maintains a diverse workforce and greatly encourages and supports its employees involved with communities and movements such as LGBTQIA+ to be proud of who they are, what they stand for, and to not be afraid of being themselves, in or out of the workplace.

The Los Santos Police Department stands with the community and values its relationship with the community and media. We will continue to investigate the incidents relating to pride events and will work with the media to provide the information requested of the Department to the best of its abilities.

Information in regard to our internal investigation cannot be provided at this time, as it is currently still in very early stages.
