At approximately 1845 on the 28th of April, gunshots rang out in the area of Legion Square by city parking. As three units arrived, they saw multiple individuals running from the scene. Two particular individuals were seen with masks on by a Detective unit, deemed to have been involved in the situation. A few Patrol Officers stayed behind, ensuring the area was secure and that no one was injured.

The Detectives followed the individuals who were seen entering a grey Rapid GT, quickly leaving the scene. Multiple Los Santos Police Department units moved in to pull over the vehicle in question. They did not yield and decided to start to evade numerous units. The fleeing car headed toward Los Santos Freeway after traveling around the city and keeping the pursuit going for quite some time. A unit from the Metropolitan Division joined the pursuit, and a specialized Police helicopter from the Los Santos Police Department’s Special Flights Section arrived to assist. As the Police helicopter came to help, the suspects opened fire on the lead vehicles in the pursuit. These gunshots escalated the situation and the response from all police units within the pursuit. The vehicle was deemed an immediate threat to the lives of Police Officers and citizens of Los Santos as the suspects continued to drive through the city, randomly popping off shots at pursuing units.

Ignoring the demands of the Los Santos Police Officers and still firing weapons from their vehicle, the suspects entered Del Perro Freeway, heading Northwest. To ensure the safety of civilians, officers took out the vehicle’s tires. Soon after making a u-turn, the vehicle spun out and stalled. About eight police units of different specializations rapidly closed in. At the same time, the passenger got out of the vehicle and opened fire. Police returned fire and the suspect was quickly incapacitated and secured. The driver, understanding they were surrounded and outnumbered, surrendered without resistance.

Patrol Officers secured the scene, and the highway was temporarily closed to traffic. Detectives from the Gangs and Narcotics Division investigated the scene for evidence about the suspects and those they were possibly affiliated with. The Metropolitan Division assisted in providing security, keeping an overview of the scene with their helicopter. Unfortunately, one Detective was injured during the pursuit, getting hit by shots from the suspects firing from their vehicle. They were immediately treated on the scene and taken to Pillbox Hospital. The injured suspect was secured on the scene and given first aid. The suspect that surrendered was immediately charged and taken to the Department of Corrections. After being taken to Pillbox Hospital, the injured suspect was treated and escorted to Bolingbroke Penitentiary. No other officers nor any civilians were injured in this high-intensity situation.
