At around 1925 on 18th April, two police units were passing a store on El Rancho Boulevard in an active pursuit when units were notified through 911 that the said store was being robbed. The two units diverted from the pursuit and responded to the store robbery call. As soon as the units arrived at the store they spotted two black motorcycles at the back of the store, a few meters down from the hillside the store was set on. As units went around the store they were immediately fired upon.

The two caucasian suspects were hidden and shot at Officers from two different directions, which was detrimental for the Officers. They were shooting from two pistols of different caliber, one presumed to be a 9-millimeter pistol, the other, a .50 caliber pistol. Officers immediately called out for backup and as units were arriving the two suspects jumped onto their motorcycles and started evading southbound on Popular Street.

One of the two motorcycles returned to the scene of the robbery to aid their accomplice - a unit initiated a pursuit of the said motorcycle after evading and assisting one of the robbery suspects. The pursuing unit was prone to danger as the two suspects opened fire on the Officer while he was attempting to coordinate a larger response to apprehend the suspects. The Officer operating the lead unit was struck once in his vest and was later forced to stop the pursuit after their tire was shot out.

Detectives later arrived and assisted with identifying the suspects through investigative means - tying the casings and deformed bullets to a pistol of a known felon to open an investigation. The suspects remain at large as the Detective Bureau works tirelessly to bring the brazen robbery and shooting to light.
