WWW.LSSD.SAGOV.US Los Santos County Sheriff's Department News Release 04/24/2022 "A TRADITION OF SERVICE" Sheriff John Wallace |
- Los Santos Sheriff's Department Bomb Threat
-
- On March 23rd, at approximately 15:04, Deputy Sheriff Paulo Witherfork and Captain Steve Smyth conducted a routine traffic stop on a Brawler. After receiving active threats about an explosive device being brandished by a passenger in the vehicle the nearby area of Union Road was evacuated and additional support was called to the scene from the Los Santos County Fire Department, LSSD Special Enforcement Detail and G.O.B ground units.
The preexisting dialogue established between Deputy Sheriff Paulo Witherfork and the passenger was continued under the supervision of Scene Commander, Capital Steve Smyth, and S.E.D Scene Supervisor Captain Tyrone Balakay. After being able to secure the surrounding area, units on the scene were able to isolate the alleged explosive device away from the vehicle and detain both the driver and passenger.
At Approximately 15:27 S.E.D conducted a controlled detonation of the briefcase using precision weaponry at a distance with fire engines stationed nearby.
Although it was found that the call had been a hoax and there was no explosive device contained in the briefcase the Sheriff's Department takes all threats with the utmost seriousness, and we are committed to thoroughly and aggressively investigating these threats.
Due to the continuing investigation, we are unable to provide more details at this time.
The Sheriff's Department will continue our work to make sure all races and religions feel safe in their communities. We would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious or have information about potential threats to report it to law enforcement immediately.
