        Our Message -
On this beautiful day we would like to proudly recognize the women of the Department of Corrections for their dedication, strength, and service. Every day, they play a crucial role in maintaining safety, security, and rehabilitation within our walls.
Women serve in many capacities, including correctional officers, healthcare providers, administrators, and support staff. Their hard work and commitment help keep operations running smoothly while making a positive impact on those in their care and the community.
Despite the challenges of their roles, these women lead with professionalism, compassion, and quite a lot of resilience. Their contributions are so valuable, and we honor their efforts to uphold the mission of the Department of Corrections.
We would like to extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude to these women for their service and dedication. Their work makes a lasting difference, and we celebrate their contributions today and every day.

We asked a few of our female correctional officers "What has your experience been like as a woman working in the Department of Corrections?" And here are some of their responses!

It's been good from my experience, everyone's always been very accepting and I don't think I've been treated different for being a woman, once in a while we get some inmates that are a bit rude and will refuse to listen to you as a guard based on gender, its sad that some people out there are still discriminatory like that but our employees never fail to support us. Every year as well around September for breast cancer awareness month the guys in our department are very supportive helping by donating money towards organizations working to prevent breast cancer and by dyeing their hair pink or beard. In short I find our department to be very inclusive and equal.

It's been up and down thankfully I have an amazing team that jumps at the chance to support me as well as other women whether they are inmates or not against any unnecessary comments or actions. We have an amazing HR team who work day and night attending to any concerns that may come to path. It's thanks to my amazing team that I'm able to walk into work no matter what with a smile on my face and I'm forever thankful for each and every team member.

Everyone has always been so welcoming and friendly. I was fortunate to start my journey in the department under a female Warden so there was always equality across the field. This has been something that I have worked for. Up until recently, both Deputy Wardens were also female so the department was show to be led by a few strong women. There have been a few instances of inmates asking to speak to the Warden and assuming its some one else!
              Closing Message from the Warden
Women are the best and I appreciate every single one of them in the department all the way from the wonderful Deputy Warden Katie Schneider to some our budding new trainees!
Through female empowerment and perseverance there is nothing that cannot be done.
