Casual Fridays

Casual Friday: Family Guy Edition

At our department, we look forward to Casual Friday every week – it’s a chance to kick back, relax, and wear our own clothes as a reward for the hard work we’ve put in throughout the week.

Introducing Casual Friday: Family Guy Edition, as suggested by the one and only Warden! We all got a chance to dress up as our favourite Family Guy characters and compete for a whopping $50K (Yes, you read that right!)

Some of us went all out, channelling our inner Stewie, Meg, and Quagmire. But the real winning moment came when Officer Angerson absolutely nailed it as none other than Peter Griffin! From the outfit to the walk – he truly griffined the competition and took home the grand prize.

It's moments like these that remind us how much fun we have here, and how our team always knows how to kick it into high gear (pun intended) when it comes to internal events!

This month, we also had a blast with Disney Friday, challenging the department to dress up as their favourite Disney characters—because who says you can’t add a little magic behind bars?

The lineup was incredible literally! We had Mrs. Incredible stretching deadlines like a pro, Boo from Monsters, Inc. sneaking around like she was dodging Roz, and Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph glitching her way out of lockdown.

From heroes to villains, the yard was packed with characters because let's face it, we see plenty of animated behavior around here!

It was definitely a sentence worth serving no parole necessary!

We also decided to introduce "Formal Friday" Everyone showed up in their sharpest attire—suits, ties, dresses, and polished shoes—transforming the department into a parade of elegance. The usual jeans and sneakers were swapped for crisp blazers and heels, making it feel like a special occasion. We capped off the evening with our weekly meeting, where the room buzzed with a mix of pride and playful banter about who pulled off the look best. It was a refreshing change of pace, blending professionalism with a dash of fun to kick off the weekend.

Casual Friday: Doppelganger Day!

For the final Friday of the month, the Department Of Corrections held Doppelganger Day! This theme encouraged officers to dress up and act like other officers within the department for the day! This created the perfect mix of inside jokes, swapped uniforms, and spot-on impressions that had everyone doing double takes.
We also decided to spice things up a bit by offering a $50k prize to the best officer impression/costume. I'm very excited to announce that the winners are Maxima Vondutch, as Kourtney La Fleur, and Opal Stone as Issei Schneider!

Thank You Mel!

In our weekly meeting, Melanie was recently honored with a Division Excellence award for her outstanding work within the Public Relations department congratulations, Melanie! We’re so grateful for everything she brings to the team, from her amazing posters and creative ideas to crafting this very press release. Her efforts make a world of difference, and we couldn’t be prouder. Daniel Endo summed it up perfectly when he said,
"Without Melanie, Public Relations would be a tough place to run. She helps so much with applications, and she’s smarter than she gives herself credit for I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!"

🎵 SADOC Songs on Rotation: The Soundtrack That Keeps Us APT🎵

At SADOC, music isn’t just background noise—it’s the apt choice to keep us moving, grooving, and vibing together. Whether it’s blasting through the speakers or lighting up the TV, these tracks are what keep us ap-tivated (see what we did there?).

Right now, our rotation is stacked with absolute bangers—songs that feel just as apt-ly placed in a work session as they do in a Friday afternoon jam-out. Some tracks get us in the zone, others give us that well-timed boost, but all of them bring us together like the perfect playlist should.

We like to ask the employee of the month a few questions to get their perspective on the job and what makes a great officer, below are a few answers to common questions by our Employee of the Month:

Looking back, what are memorable achievements from your service so far?
The on-spot recruitment was very memorable. I enjoyed seeing so many new excited new faces eager to join the DOC!

Moving forward what are the next goals as a SADOC officer?
I would like to follow in the footsteps of my amazing supervisor Daniel Endo and one day become a supervisor myself.

Any advice they would give to future prospects who might think about joining the SADOC?
Just go for it! It can be a bit scary at first but once you learn the ropes it's a whole lot of fun!
Visitation
Has your wife, brother, husband, sister, mother, uncle, friend, or even your nemesis ever been brought to SADOC? Great news—you can visit them! Our visitation is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on holidays (because crime doesn’t take a day off).

Two Irish meeting with a Chinese
There is, however, a small catch: at least two Correctional Officers need to be available to assist with visitation. If they’re busy elsewhere, feel free to pop back later—we’ll be here!

Visitation Rules:
- No physical contact. Sorry, hugs are off the table.
- No whispering. Keep it loud and clear, folks.
- No passing of items. Anything you want to exchange will be checked for contraband first.
- Maximum visitation time is 1 hour ((15 minutes OOCLY)).

For those who love to bend the rules, be warned: we have a blacklist! Certain individuals—like our MSIs—are restricted from visitation. Remember, visitation is a privilege, not a right, and it can be declined for a variety of reasons.

Divisional Highlight: Correctional Groundskeeping

The Unsung Heroes of Prisons: Groundskeeping and Maintenance

When most people think about what keeps a prison running, they probably picture guards, wardens, and all the people in charge of security. But there's another essential group working quietly behind the scenes to make sure everything stays safe and functional—the groundskeeping and maintenance team. These folks do everything from changing lightbulbs to setting up security systems, playing a key role in keeping things secure and running smoothly.

Prisons are basically big self-sustaining communities, so they need constant care. The maintenance team is in charge of making sure everything works—plumbing, electricity, heating, and air conditioning. A broken lock, a glitchy security camera, or a power outage could cause serious problems. These workers are always on the move, fixing issues before they turn into bigger security risks or emergencies.

The maintenance crew does more than just repairs. They're also responsible for making upgrades to security. Whether it's setting up new cameras, fixing the fences, or adding extra lights, their work directly impacts safety for both staff and inmates. They help prevent escapes, stop illegal activities, and make sure law enforcement can count on solid surveillance when needed.

From fixing worn-out furniture to keeping the laundry rooms in check, the maintenance team ensures both inmates and staff have what they need to get through the day. Without them, things would quickly fall apart. They're also in charge of keeping the fire suppression systems, water lines, and HVAC units running, which helps avoid bigger emergencies and makes sure everyone's basic needs are met.

While all the heavy-duty stuff takes priority, these workers also take on a job that's a little less glamorous but still pretty important—stocking the vending machines. So, next time you grab a snack, remember the effort that went into keeping those machines stocked.

But that's not all....
At our facility, we offer a range of inmate tasks designed to help maintain the cleanliness and order of the prison, while also providing inmates with a sense of accomplishment and the opportunity to earn stamps for their efforts.

The usual tasks include essential duties like laundry and cleaning the litter in the cellblock. These everyday jobs help ensure a clean, comfortable environment for everyone.

For those looking to take on bigger challenges, we also offer tasks such as mowing the lawn. This not only contributes to keeping the prison grounds tidy, but also gives inmates the chance to feel like they've achieved something significant. The larger tasks offer valuable opportunities to earn additional stamps, which can support personal growth and future opportunities.

We caught up with Officer Whittle, a member of Groundskeeping Command, pushing to make the division fresh and complete with new ideas. Here's what he had to say about the division:
'It’s all about refreshing the space and bringing in cool ideas that will make the place more engaging and help build a sense of community. We’re really focused on taking care of every part of the division while also welcoming new concepts to keep things lively. There’s a ton of exciting work ahead, and I can’t wait to get started. I’m also working on a whole new set of tasks to keep the prison running smoothly and safer, plus I'm coming up with new activities for the inmates to keep them entertained. Personally, I’m aiming to move up the ranks in Groundskeeping, and I hope to one day lead the division. I know there’s a lot of work to do before I reach that goal, but since being reinstated, I’m motivated to catch up to where I was before in Groundskeeping.”
Next time you see a groundskeeper, be sure to thank them for their hard work!

Take a moment to show appreciation for all their hard work. A simple "thank you" can go a long way in making them feel valued. They truly deserve it!
DOC Hostage Situation: A Tale of Courage and Coordination

A Tale of Courage and Coordination


It was a tense Monday morning at the Department of Corrections (DOC) it had not long turned the 17th of February when chaos erupted at the front entrance. Armed assailants launched a brazen attempt to intercept a prisoner transfer, aiming to break their comrade out of PD custody. In the midst of the chaos, the assailants seized Trevor Sterling, holding him hostage in the DOC front lobby.

CERT Operative Chris Whittle was first to respond. Without hesitation, they stepped forward to begin negotiations, determined to bring the situation under control and ensure Trevor’s safety. Communication was tense, but progress was made — the assailants demanded the release of their injured accomplice, who was being treated in the DOC medbay.

Acting quickly, Chris coordinated with PD and SD, arranging for the injured individual to be transported to Upper Pillbox under DOC escort to guarantee security during the transfer. The operation proceeded with precision once the injured man was safely dropped off at Upper Pillbox, the hostage-taker upheld their end of the deal, and Trevor was finally released unharmed.

But the mission didn’t end there. SD motorcycles immediately pursued the fleeing suspect, maintaining pressure as they sped through the streets in a high-stakes chase.

In the end, it was a team effort that ensured a successful resolution from tactical negotiations to coordinated transportation and rapid pursuit. A job well done by everyone involved.

Searching for Our Future Officers

This weekend, the car park was buzzing with excitement as we hosted our On-the-Spot Recruitment Event, aiming to find the next generation of dedicated officers. With determination in their eyes and a drive to succeed, candidates turned up ready to showcase their potential.

A key highlight of the day was the on-site physical training (PT) course, where participants were pushed to their limits. From endurance runs to strength challenges, the course was designed to test their fitness, resilience, and grit qualities essential for life in the department..

The event wasn’t just about physical ability; it was about heart, determination, and teamwork. Our recruitment team observed closely, not only looking for those who could complete the course but those who could lead, adapt, and motivate others under pressure.

For those who impressed during the PT session, the journey continues. Successful candidates now move on to the next stage of recruitment, where they will begin to learn the ropes and gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to serve and protect their community.

We are proud of every participant who stepped up to the challenge, and we look forward to seeing who will rise to join our ranks. The future looks bright with such promising talent ready to serve.

Breaking Down the Bars: Unity in the Cellblock

Unity in the Cellblock

Recently, we all came together on both sides of the bars. The music was bumping, the energy was real, and for a moment, there were no walls between us. Just people, chilling, laughing, and dancing. It was proof that no matter where life has placed us, we can still find common ground, respect, and even joy.

This is what second chances are about. The DOC, with programs like FRD and parole, is showing that change is possible, that the past doesn’t define the future. People can grow, learn, and step into a better version of themselves if given the opportunity.

Last night was a reminder: We are more than our worst mistakes. We are human. And when we treat each other with dignity, the barriers both seen and unseen start to come down.

Although we are on different sides of the bars, this picture is a powerful reminder that, at our core, we are all the same. It captures a moment of connection that transcends barriers, proving that kindness, understanding, and compassion exist beyond physical or societal divisions. No matter our backgrounds or circumstances, we share emotions, needs, and the ability to form bonds. This image is a testament to the idea that differences do not have to divide usinstead, they can serve as opportunities to find common ground and embrace our shared humanity.

      When an inmate arrives with their shiny new iFruit 69, they can kiss it goodbye—it’ll be promptly confiscated (we’re not running a tech hub here). However, if they want to hold onto it long enough to make a call before entering the cellblock, they can put in a request.

      Once granted, the 10-15 can use their one phone call for anything from breaking the news to mom about their extended stay, sweet-talking their significant other into a visit, or begging a friend to feed Mr. Whiskers while they’re otherwise occupied. Priorities, right?


      Phone calls are a privilege, not a right. Any Correctional Officer has the right to decline you for a phone call for any reason they see fit.

        Citizenship/Residency: Must be a U.S. Citizen at the time of submitting your application.

        Multiple Employments: You can't be a member of PD/SD/JB when applying to SADOC, as these are full-time gigs. You can, however, hold a part-time position while working at SADOC (because who doesn't need a side hustle?). .

      • Mental/Physical Fitness: As a Corrections Officer, you need to be in good shape—both mentally and physically. We’ll be testing you on this during our hiring process, so start working on that “mind over matter” stuff now.

      • Criminal History:
        - If you’ve been charged with any disqualifying misdemeanors or felonies, you’ll need a firearm license to apply.
        - We’ll run an extensive background check on you, including your criminal record, previous employment, traffic violations, and any past affiliations (because we’re thorough like that).

        - You are required to pass an extensive background check, where your criminal record, previous employment, traffic violations, and any affiliation you may have had in the past will be checked.

      • Additional Requirements:
        - You need to have both a driver's license and a trucker’s license.
        - Your application must be written by you—no cheating with online tools. We want to hear your words, not Google’s.
        - You must be able to dedicate at least 5 on-duty hours a week as a Correctional Officer.
      • ((Punishment-Free Period:))
        ((- No recent punishments for at least 2-4 weeks (Spoken To’s don’t count). If you were recently unbanned, you’ll need to wait a
        month before applying (but if your ban was voided, feel free to apply right away. ))

      SADOC is Hiring Building Contractors!

      Looking for a hands-on role with great pay? SADOC is hiring Building Contractors to help build, upgrade, and maintain areas around the prison and select external properties.

      Salary: $5,000 an hour with potential bonuses based on tenure.
      Reporting To: High Command
      Duties: No standard Correctional Officer responsibilities.


      Position Details:
      This is a part-time position, allowing you to hold employment in other departments—except for full-time roles in LSPD or LSSD.


      Requirements:

      Age: Must be over 18
      (((Out of Character: Must be at least 16 years old) ))

      Citizenship/Residency:
      - Must be an American citizen.
      - Must have resided in San Andreas for at least 12 months.

      Multiple Employment Rules:
      - Cannot be employed with LSPD or LSSD at the time of hiring.
      - Can hold a part-time position in other departments.

      Criminal History:
      - Applicants with previous misdemeanors and felonies may apply if they hold a firearm license (A, B, or C).

      At this very moment visitation is still closed as people have been finding it funny to drop fake bombs at our front desk then laugh as we worry about the prison exploding.
