2. REQUEST INFORMATION
  • Detailed information of your request:
    • - Hello LSPD! Reina Moraine here, WEAZEL News!

I was looking for a statement that the LSPD Media department would like to make (if applicable) on the sudden rise of graffiti around the state of San Andreas. I understand that one of our employees has already asked a baseline question concerning the reported incidents, but there are a few more questions that I'd like to have some more specifics on in terms of response. Specifically I would like these questions answered:
      • What is the LSPD's formal response to the rising Graffiti sightings around the state?
      • To what criminal charges (if any) are the LSPD placing on those caught defacing or 'tagging' walls/structures/etc? Are there plans to stick to vandalism only or will there be more escalated charges in response to repeat offenders, or defacing buildings of GOV origin rather than general public buildings?
      • Are there currently any exceptions as to the placement of charges (if applicable) as it pertains to owners of private property giving explicit permission for individuals to spray paint said property?
      • Do you have a message for the public (Or the criminal underworld) in response to the rising graffiti spread?
      • Does the LSPD have a plan or a formulated strategy to combat the graffiti, in terms of clean up efforts or constant vigilance on patrols?
Thank you for any information you can provide!

Los Santos Police Department
"TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE"

  • Re: Request for Comment [WEAZEL News]

    Thank you for your inquiry.

The Los Santos Police Department is actively monitoring the rising sightings of graffiti around the City of Los Santos. Officers are provided with microfiber cloths by the Department to assist civilians with removing graffiti and are further permitted to provide cloths to civilians, should they deem it necessary. It is, however, relevant to note that while officers are available to and will assist, graffiti removal from properties is more befitting of a public works section of City Hall.

Per the criminal codes established by the State and within the Penal Code thereof, GM08 - Vandalism is applicable, either as a misdemeanor criminal charge or a misdemeanor citation, as graffiti is explicitly mentioned within the specifics of the criminal code.

If the owner, or licensed manager permitted to speak on behalf of the owner, is present to prove, or the individual spraypainting a property can produce proof, such as a signed agreement for services rendered, that they are or were contracted or requested and provided explicit permission to spraypaint a specific property, then it is not a crime and will not be further pursued by the Los Santos Police Department.

As mentioned, the Los Santos Police Department is committed and actively monitoring the situation and is actively participating in the clean-up of the streets. However, the LSPD is a law enforcement agency first and foremost and instead calls upon the San Andreas State Government and City Hall to take action through the establishment of a public works department to contribute to the clean-up of the graffiti within the City and the wider State.
