Introduction
Another one for the books! May has been an exciting month here at the State Government. As we enter into the summer weather and people start to hit the beach, rest assured the government is continuing to work for the people. We're excited for new efforts, initiatives, and opportunities for the general public in the coming months, and we encourage everyone to be on the lookout for some fun stuff coming up very soon. We'd also like to wish everyone a happy Pride Month. SASG stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and is committed to protecting equality within our state. Without further ado, here's what's been happening at SASG this last month:
New Employees
When employees join the San Andreas State Government, we ask them a crucial question: why did they choose to join the government? We then share their answers with the public to provide insight into the kind of impact these individuals wish to make on the future and development of our city. Here are quotes received from our new employees:
Scottie Cross wrote: I decided to work for gov, as it is the most adverse group to work for. Have everything there is to offer and learn if I ever decide to. I wanted the opportunity to further my knowledge and career and HOPEFULLY at some point, have my record wiped clean so that I could go even further. I want to learn as much as possible and experience every opportunity that I could. Thank you for the opportunity regardless of the outcome.

Business Licensing Bureau

  • The Business Licensing Bureau is announcing recent amendments to the licensing requirements for firearms retailers and firing ranges. These changes are designed to enhance safety and ensure proper supervision of shooting ranges.

For the GRBL:02 - Firearms Retailer License, it is now mandated that any gun store with an installed shooting range must keep the range locked from public use when there is no staff present to oversee activities. Failure to comply with this requirement will be considered a minor breach of licensing conditions.

Similarly, the EEBL:06 - Firing Range License has been updated to include the same restriction. All firing ranges must remain locked from public use when there is no staff available to supervise. Violating this requirement will also be regarded as a minor breach of licensing conditions.

Please note that if you are going to use the firing range, you should attempt to inform law enforcement beforehand, so that they are aware. Please view SASG Available Licenses for the full list of license requirements.

These updates are effective immediately. The Business Licensing Bureau appreciates your cooperation in adhering to these new regulations to maintain a safe environment for all.

  • Sincerely,

During May, we saw the departure of the Director of the Government Security Bureau, Elian Ramos. He first joined the State Government on November 1, 2023, as the Interim Security Director for the Government Security Bureau. During his tenure at GOV, working in the Security Bureau, he worked closely with his command team to restructure the Bureau, bringing it to what it is today. From a small group of agents to a team now with more than fifteen (15) agents.
Ramos trained and worked with a number of agents during his time here and a number of them had some words to says on his recent departure:
Special Agent Hunter Parker wrote: Elian was an innovative leader who made significant positive changes, creating strong foundations for the GSB. His forward-thinking approach led to improvements that set a higher standard within the agency, enhancing its efficiency and effectiveness.

Elian’s commitment to excellence and his pioneering spirit have created a lasting legacy. The pillars he established will continue to support and guide the GSB, inspiring future generations to strive for innovation and excellence.

He will truly be missed, and we, as an agency, have sworn to uphold the standards he has set.
Agent II Alfie Watch wrote: I didn't get the chance to get to know Ramos very well, but when I did see him, he was always kind and approachable and was always available to answer any questions I had during my training when I first started. He did a good job as director when he was here, and he will be missed.
    Lead Agent Lester Conway wrote:
I am deeply saddened to learn of Director Elian Ramos's departure from the government security bureau. His leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts have been instrumental in safeguarding our state's security. His profound impact on our operations and the significant strides made under his tenure have significantly improved the bureau's operation. While everyone in the bureau respects his decision and wishes him the best in his future endeavors, his absence will undoubtedly be felt by all who had the privilege of working with him.
Board of Governors wrote: It is always sad to see an employee depart from the department, especially one who is an active member of the command team. When an employee makes great contributions to the department, their work does not go unnoticed, and we would like to thank Director Ramos for his contributions to the development of the Government Security Bureau, and we wish him all the best in his retirement and future.

With this departure, Huw Parry has been appointed Interim Director of the bureau. He joined around the same time as Director Ramos and worked under him as Deputy Director. He will continue to build on what was started with Ramos in the pursuit of making the bureau even better, with the help of his command and supervisor team.
Interim Director Huw Parry wrote: It's sad to see Elian Ramos leave, I have worked with him for numerous years in the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department and without him, I would not be where I am now. Throughout the years, he has guided me and I wish him all the best with his future endeavors.

My aims within the Government Security Bureau is to continue to strengthen the Bureau with training similar to those in Law Enforcement, we are continuing to re-structure the internal training and protocols day by day and I will do my best within the Government and citizens of Los Santos to feel safe at Government buildings.

We want to personally thank every member of the San Andreas State Government for their amazing efforts this month. We continue to see our team develop and create amazing new programs while also updating existing policies with the same passion and dedication they had on day one. We also want to thank those who continue to work on more complex projects that the majority of the public will not see, but that enhance our capabilities or make our operations more efficient. Those contributions do not go unnoticed.

We also want to take a moment to recognize Memorial Day, which took place on the 27th of May, 2024. Our commitment to honoring the lives of those who have fallen in service of our nation and global peace will forever remain the most noble of sacrifices, embodying the highest ideals of duty, honor, and selflessness. We want to thank our brave members of the National Guard. While they remain a reserve department of the Government, when called into action, they always deliver in fast, well-executed operations. We continue to pay tribute to those lost in the line of duty and are committed to supporting the families affected by their loss.

We are very excited for the month of June, where we expect to see some large developments within the San Andreas State Government as well as externally with some amazing new opportunities to come.
