Los Santos: As the Los Santos Police Department concludes the month of April, Chief Elena Flores extends a message of reflection and addresses the accomplishments, challenges, and future endeavors of the Department.

Chief Elena Flores wrote: With the conclusion of April, we conclude the first month of spring and yet another month of service to the communities of Los Santos.

We have witnessed a notable decrease in crime metrics across the city through statistic gathering and proactive policing by our officers. Auto thefts, otherwise referred to as grand theft auto, have seen a decrease of 9%, and burglaries, which are inclusive but not necessarily limited to break-ins and home invasions, have seen a decrease of 8%. On the other hand, we have also witnessed a notable increase of up to 23% in armed robberies, which has been associated with an increase in class 1 firearm possession arrests of up to 11%.

While decreases and increases have been seen in specific areas and crime metrics, an increase in violence, crime, and hostility toward law enforcement has been visible throughout April. We remain dedicated to ensuring that our officers can carry out their duties and continue to provide service to the city's communities and citizens, to assuring their safety and well-being, while ensuring their safety in the process. Reviews have been conducted of department processes and qualifications to ensure that officers remain well-equipped and can react to such hostilities and incidents, which pose a danger to not only law enforcement but also civilians, adequately and appropriately.

The LSPD is committed and actively measuring these statistics and working and planning different strategies to take strides in reducing crime and enhancing the safety of the public.

I find it important that amidst the celebration of successes and positives, we acknowledge the challenges and obstacles that still remain. Our work is far from over, and I assure you that we remain committed and dedicated to continue to approach these challenges with a commitment to excellence, honor, and integrity.

On a final note, I wish to use this opportunity to express my gratitude to the unwavering dedication and commitment of not only our officers, but also the deputies of the Sheriff's Department, all government workers, and every citizen who has contributed to making the City of Los Santos a better, safer place.

The Los Santos Police Department is committed to ensuring and protecting the safety and security of citizens and tourists of Los Santos to the highest standards of law enforcement. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our ranks. If you are inspired to make a difference in your community, consider a career with LSPD. The LSPD is hiring and can be applied to through the online recruitment portal.
