Multiple Explosive Devices and Explosions

Los Santos: On the evening of September 30th, at approximately 7:58 PM, the Los Santos Police Department was made aware of and responded to a threat of explosive devices at multiple locations spread throughout the State.

The Los Santos Police Department was made aware of potential explosive devices found within City Hall, the offices of Weazel News, Club Cix, and the Clappers restaurant. Within minutes, a deployment order was issued to the Metropolitan Division and a specialized bomb squad paired with an explosive detection canine was deployed to start conducting a sweep of City Hall to determine the credibility of the information.

Patrol units were directed to conduct multiple checks, at different times, at Club Cix and Clappers, both locations which had been communicated with and had stated that their entryways had been locked with staff present for the better part of the day, allowing officers to narrow the perimeter of their search down to the surroundings of these establishments.

Specialized officers with the Department's bomb squad conducted a thorough sweep of City Hall and found no signs or evidence pointing toward an explosive device being present, and promptly made their way to conduct a sweep of the building out of which Weazel News operates. Prior to the arrival of the bomb squad, officers had informed Weazel News employees of the potential threat and ensured that no employees were within the building.

A thorough sweep of the Weazel News building was conducted and no explosive devices were found within. A subsequent sweep of the parking lot was conducted, which also resulted in no explosive device being found. Then, an explosion was detonated on Palomino Avenue, the street of the Weazel News building.

Officers immediately moved all employees and bystanders to safety and established a large perimeter. Officers with the bomb squad immediately analyzed the debris, which produced no evidence to pursue but did point towards the use of a homemade improvised explosive device, specifically, a homemade pipe bomb.

Shortly after the explosion on Palomino Avenue, reports of an explosive at the Department of Corrections were made, at which point the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department was contacted and provided assistance through a second explosive detection canine to assist with the sweeps.

Officers, to the best of their abilities, concluded the scene at Weazel News and made their way to Bolingbroke Penitentiary. East of the state prison near two large garages, an explosion occurred. The bomb squad immediately conducted an investigation that produced no evidence for Detectives but pointed toward the same improved explosive device. The Los Santos Emergency Medical Services deployed an engine from the Fire Department to assist.

Once concluded, another report of an explosive device was made, which was reported to be at the Bayview Auto Center. Officers made their way, only to be met with another explosion and an investigation that produced little evidence with regard to the device itself. Video cameras within the area, however, were reviewed by Detectives and caught a glimpse of the suspect responsible for placing the device.

Officers and deputies made their way over to Los Santos Customs, where another final report had indicated an explosive device was placed. A perimeter was promptly established and entry into the area was barricaded. The bomb squad arrived prior to the device being set off but had to resort to a controlled detonation in order to eliminate the threat.

Since the initial call was made, throughout all reports, officers with the bomb squad, and patrol officers responding to the locations, Detectives worked tirelessly to track down any individual related to the incidents that had and were occurring. Other detectives further proactively deployed multiple vehicles at locations that were determined to be potential targets and began conducting surveillance.

Two persons of interest were identified and detained. They were later released. The Los Santos Police Department currently has no suspect in custody. Any investigations into these explosions and the improvised devices are ongoing.

Citizens with any potential information that may assist investigators in their investigation are encouraged to submit a police report.
