      Simple Question for FLD here

What is the logic behind having INSANELY strict requirements for gun applications and changes? Making people wait upwards of 24 hours to take a dash out of a phone number for example. That time to get SIMPLE errors fixed by the applicant can put that individual in danger and at worse lead to their death.

      Thank you for your time

    Hi Randy,

To answer your question, if you take an appropriate amount of time to read and understand the application for the thing you are applying for, nothing is strict or insane. It is very straightforward and the majority of applicants either correctly fill the application out the first time.

For those individuals that need a little correction, we take the time to point out their mistakes so they can correct them within a very reasonable 48 hour period and almost all of those individuals that require the corrections, make the corrections. Those individuals that do not, cannot be licensed until they submit an application we can accept. That doesn't infringe on anyone's rights and that doesn't allow someone to provide incorrect information for their license.

You may consider a hyphen in a number an insignificance. You may think, "Well, if they need to contact me, they can just remove the hyphen?." This very well may be the case Mr. Lee but then, if someone is lackadaisical over such a minor detail, maybe they are the sort of person that doesn't take gun safety that seriously? Maybe it's just a hyphen or maybe it's something else they skip.

Maybe they are someone that forgets to lock their gun safe correctly and their child ends up with access to their firearm. Maybe they are someone who, through the process of cleaning their weapon forgets, to clear a chambered round and ends up killing someone. Maybe they leave their firearm on the seat of their vehicle instead of a locked glovebox, the firearm is stolen through a broken window and then used in an armed robbery. These might seem like over-reactions to you but these are the real situations that the Los Santos Police Department has had to face because people didn't take the proper care with the rules and regulations.

If we did not fill out the application forms for our respective careers, I wouldn't be responding to you and you wouldn't have to specify that you were not speaking on behalf of anyone.

Plus, if you really want to break it down further, it makes the documentation and information gathering aspect of law enforcement a lot easier.

I hope this inquiry has satisfied your desire for elaboration this topic, thank you for taking the time to write to us and stay safe out there.

    Regards,
