Changes to DOC Recruitment Requirements

  • For People With Low Attention Spans
  • Following a brief suspension of the program, the Correctional Custodian Officer program has returned to DOC and will now allow current full time employees in other departments such as GSB and LEO departments to work as CCOs without resigning from their current positions. Correctional Custodian Officers are able to perform administrative, operational and certain division based tasks around the Department, without regular interactions with inmates or specific weekly hour requirements.

With the Los Santos Police Departments changes to the firearms licensing requirements for ex-felons, people who have felony records will be eligible to apply to SADOC in as little as one month of having a felony free record, so long as they have a firearms license. Eligible ex-felons will be able to apply to both our Correctional Officer and Correctional Custodian Officer positions. It is our hope that this will promote rehabilitation and unlock new opportunities for individuals to turn their lives around without burdensome intermission periods. Ex-felons will still be required to go through the recruitment process and having a firearms license does not automatically guarantee your application's success.

The San Andreas Department of Corrections is happy to announce changes in the requirements for ex-felon applications to the DOC as well as the reintroduction of the CCO program, and the lifting of the ban on PD/SD employees working as CCOs and JB working as both COs and CCOs. As a result of the changes to the firearms licensing program by the Los Santos Police Department, ex-felons may apply for employment at DOC as early as one month after their last felony charge, so long as they have a firearms license. PD and SD employees may also work as CCOs, a part-time position at DOC performing certain administrative and operational tasks with minimal inmate contact and no minimum weekly hour requirement, without resigning from their current positions. JB employees may now apply to work as both regular COs and CCOs and still maintain their employment at JB. We are excited for the opportunities that this will unlock for so many citizens within San Andreas looking to turn their life around or just another (ävenu) avenue for success in their professional lives.
