    Position in Agency: Media Supervisor
2. REQUEST INFORMATION
  • Detailed information of your request:
    • As Chief Justice Judith Mason was being granted her position, a man in the crowd became aggressive and started attacking people. Izzei Schneider, a DOC sniper, shot the unarmed man. Below are some questions so LSPD can voice their side of the story. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

      1) Why did the LSPD not submit an IA report against Izzei Schneider? Instead choosing to place charges on him yourselves
      2) Do you think those charges were fair?
      3) How does the LSPD feel about Schneider being pardoned by Governor Langley?
      4) Does the LSPD feel the state is on an even playing field when citezens reporting officers in similar situations, are told to simply file a IA case?
      5) Did the LSPD attempt to make an example out of Issei Schnider?
      6) Did the sour relations between the LSPD and DOC affect the course of action that the LSPD decided to take?
      7) Issei Schnider took similar actions to one Captain Christopher Porter. Why did the LSPD decide to encourge an officer to IA report the captain, instead of attempting to charge him like they have with Issei Schnider?

  • Re: Information Inquiry [Weazel News]

    Hello, thanks for the inquiry.

First and foremost, most of these questions imply that every officer of the Los Santos Police Department maintains the same personal and professional outlook on actions and how to handle these matters further after the fact. An officer pursuing a criminal investigation is not indicative of the Los Santos Police Department as an agency in its entirety has decided to conduct such an investigation. Similarly, an officer submitting a formal complaint with another organization and their internal affairs unit is not reflective of the Los Santos Police Department submitting a complaint as an agency. In that same vein, a single reporter of Weazel News submitting a complaint is not indicative of Weazel News in its entirety as an entertainment network submitting a complaint.

Whether charges are fair or not is inherently subjective and it is rather shocking that such a question which is requesting a personal opinion and viewpoint just for a quote would be requested through such an official forum and line of communication.

The Los Santos Police Department is a law enforcement agency, first and foremost. If its investigative branches determine that it is necessary to conduct a criminal investigation alongside or separate from the submission of a formal complaint with the internal affairs unit of a respective organization, then that is their prerogative as law enforcement officers. The investigators working this specific investigation launched an investigation that was later determined to be a criminal investigation, as is their duty as law enforcement officers, collaborated with the Office of the Attorney General in the review of evidence and corresponding charges, and proceeded from there. Whether an individual is unemployed, employed with Burger Shot, or employed by, for example, the Department of Corrections or the Los Santos Police Department holds no bearing on whether or not the investigative branches of the Department will open a criminal investigation. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law, and it is the duty of the Department and its personnel to enforce said law.

The incident surrounding a Captain of the Sheriff's Department and a Warden of the Department of Corrections are contextually different incidents with different personnel from various agencies being present. The recommendations and further actions taken by the officers of the Department have been recommendations made among peers and actions taken within the prerogative and authority of investigators of a law enforcement agency in these separate incidents respectively.

The Los Santos Police Department has not aimed to make an example out of any individual that has been charged as the result of this investigation.

The Los Santos Police Department has no comment to provide on the pardon issued by the Governor or relations between agencies beyond stating that the Department values its relations with all agencies, including the Department of Corrections, highly.

    Respectfully,
