2. REQUEST INFORMATION
  • Detailed information of your request:
    • Recently I've come to purchase a Hustler which is a vehicle sold by many dealerships and is a very older model vehicle. With that being said, they are manufactured and sold without rearview mirrors/side-view mirrors which is a requirement to be roadworthy in the penal code. Upon looking at the local mechanic shops, there are no available attachments to place these onto the car. There are other vehicles with similar issues I believe as well. What can we do to make these vehicles roadworthy, or can they bypass this requirement for the penal code due to their manufacturer producing them without the ability to have them attached.

((Also, would we be okay to simply RP placing the parts on the car if we went out and did the RP to get the mirrors/missing things?))

  • Melody Frey,

Unfortuantely, if the vehicle cannot be made compliant with the penal code, it is unroadworthy. There are a handful of vehicles available for purchase in the state that are not roadworthy from the factory, especially older vehicles, as regulations may have been different when they were produced. These vehicles may be used on private property and when special permission is given, such as for an event in a restricted area, but they may not drive on public roads. If they are to be transported between two locations via public roads, they must be towed. The only exception is specifically with non-compliant headlight colors, which may be on only while going to and from an event and if valid documentation is present.

I hope this is helpful, let me know if you have further questions.

((You would have to ask a moderator about any alternative RP))

    Sincerely,
