A career in the Los Santos Sheriff's Department can be a great challenge but also a great reward. The first step in a Deputy sheriff' career starts with the Recruitment and Employment division. Led by Lieutenant Wiley Reno, RED prides itself in selecting only the best for the department. First, applicants must apply to the job opportunity section of the LSSD website. In the past, these would take multiple weeks to be reviewed, but applicants can now expect a response within 48 hours. During this application phase, applicants undergo background and previous employment checks.
    -
Those who successfully make it past the application stage then move on to the interview stage. Interviews will typically be scheduled within 1 week of the application approval. During the interview, the applicant will be tested on theoretical questions as well as an intense physical test. Those who are deemed both mentally and physically ready for duty within the department are then moved

Within the academy, students learn all sorts of needed information for being a deputy within our department. The academy is entirely theoretical. However, it prepares the students for their field training program. Those who successfully pass the academy are then promoted into Deputy Sheriff Trainees and entered into the program.
    -
Right from the start of the Field Training Program, trainees are expected to put in the work, From studying their handbook front to back and undergoing rigorous training only the best pass. The trainees are taught everything they need to know with support from the department's field training deputies. They are ready for patrol from efficient radio communications, operating a vehicle at high speeds, and proper procedures by the end of the program. The sheriff's department's training deputies are considered some of the highest-trained members of the department and are held to the highest standards within.

The Los Santos Sheriffs Department is expected to reopen its applications from May to early June. We look forward to meeting all the applicants and seeing the next generation of deputies.
