Request Information
Detailed information of your request:

I would like to ask some questions regarding some recent charges placed upon employees of the sheriffs department.
  1. How will the Sheriffs Department be conducting a press release surrounding the firing of Marco Rivera whilst also maintain confidentiality of the IA report that was made against him?
  2. Does the Sheriffs Department believe it has conducted the IA and subsequent attempted murder charge against Marco Rivera fairly when Captain Christopher Porter received no such punishment, despite common public conception being that he breached S.O.P?
  3. Is the Sheriffs Department attempting to make an example of Marco Rivera?
  4. Were there any thoughts to Marco Riveras safety when he was placed in DOC for attempted murder, especially since many of the individuals he was housed with were placed there by him?
  5. Alester Carter was only suspended for a short peroid of time despite the numerous charges against him. Does the LSSD find this acceptable and does it think this is in keeping with previously established policy?

"A TRADITION OF SERVICE"

  • Re: Request for Information [Weazel News]
    1. We have submitted a press release regarding the situation and have no further comments to add.
    2. Regarding Captain Porter's situation, it is contextually different as he was defending life, resulting in no criminal charges. He followed our use of force policy and was cleared in an Internal Affairs Report, an Internal Affairs Appeal to my own office, and an Internal Affairs Report to the San Andreas Board of Governors. I'm sorry that Weazel News cannot accept this fact, it is perhaps time to move on.
    3. We are not making an example out of anyone at the Sheriff's Department. We treat each situation within its own contextual parameters. The decision to place a felony charge on the deputy was made in collaboration with the Attorney General.
    4. We suggest directing your inquiry to the Department of Corrections for such information. We treat everyone equally and do not provide special treatment, regardless of whether they are former employees or a suspect.
    5. There is no one-size-fits-all guideline for handling these situations. Each situation is unique and investigated according to our policy and the established laws of the State of San Andreas. Deputy Carter's situation is different from Mr. Rivera's, and our actions align with established operating procedures.

This is all that we can provide to these questions, any further questions will have to be answered by the department's Sheriff's Information Division, although, if they pertain to any of the already answered questions, they will not be answered further. I am satisfied with the information shared in this response.
