Los Santos, San Andreas
Los Santos: On April 30, the Los Santos Police Department recovered an extremely rare, antique musket from a suspect, the first in recent history. The musket was advertised for sale in an advertisement published on a third party website, with a phone number included. Knowing that such a weapon was illegal, Detectives took immediate action, with one Detective making contact with the suspect. A meet up was arranged to inspect and purchase the weapon, and in the meantime, a sting operation was set up to capture the suspect.
The Detective and the suspect met up in a secluded parking garage where they exchanged information and discussed the deal. The suspect agreed to prove the existence of the rare weapon by showing it to the Detective. Once the weapon was shown to be real, SWAT Operatives of the Metropolitan Division moved in to capture the suspect and secure the weapon. In total, nine Officers were involved in the operation. The operation was successful, with the suspect captured without further incident.
In addition to the musket, 12 packed bundles of stolen cash, 3 .50 caliber pistols, 1 heavy pistol, and 132 .50 caliber bullets were recovered. The suspect was charged with WF05 - Firearms Trafficking and GM05 - Receiving Stolen Property, and is now serving 5 years and 10 months at the San Andreas Department of Corrections.
The musket is estimated to date back to the 1800s, and has likely been kept illegally for a long time. Such weapons, while of historical interest, are unreliable and dangerous. If you encounter such a weapon, or any illegal weapon for that matter, the LSPD is happy to take it. That way, it can be preserved as a piece of history, rather than causing harm and putting public safety in jeopardy.
