The Long Awaited Unveiling of Jury Duty
"EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW"

  • Citizens of San Andreas,

For the past few months the leadership team of the Judicial Branch and myself have been working tirelessly to finally announce a jury for all future criminal cases that come in front of the Superior Court. In an effort to be transparent, the time it took to get to the point where we are finally comfortable announcing this this has been a logistic nightmare. Our main focus was to ensure that all members of the Jury can remain unbiased no matter how guilty the defendants probably are.

In an effort to combat that issue, we will be allowing career felons to serve as jurors, even those who have been convicted of Murder, Domestic Terrorism, and even Face Concealment. We will also be allowing Law Enforcement Officers to serve as jurors, even those who were actively involved in the arrest of the defendant and placed the charges being disputed.

The person who selects the Jury will be the Presiding Judge for that case. One hour before the trial is set to begin, the judge will put on a blindfold and pick twelve names from a hat, those selected will be announced through Weazel News and are expected to show up for Jury Duty. For those who fail to show up, a charge of Felony Contempt of Court will be placed along with a fine of $100,000. METRO and Special Enforcement Units will then be sent to hunt them down and bring them to justice. For those who do show up, they will be paid $250 for their time.

When the trial has finally taken place and both the Prosecution and Defense rest their case the Jury will go to chambers where they will deliberate on the verdict. For a verdict of Guilty to be decided, at least one of the twelve jurors will have to believe the defendant did it. For a verdict of Not Guilty to be decided, all twelve jurors will have to agree that the defendant probably didn't do it.

We are confident that the addition of jurors in criminal cases will be a great success and that there is absolutely no way this can backfire. I hope to see you all in court for Jury Duty and wish you all a Happy April Fools Day.
