The Los Santos Police Department has updated the regulations for Public Inquiries to clarify when it is appropriate to request information on behalf of an agency.

The instructions in the post titled "[Information] Submitting Public Inquiries" have been updated to include the following lines:
Police Department wrote:You may only name your agency or institution in your inquiry if you are inquiring on behalf of that agency or institution into a matter that is relevant to it, and not for your personal gain.

The Los Santos Police Department reserves the right to decline to comment on incidents and requests, and to use its reasonable discretion to deny requests or not disclose requested information, either partially or fully.

Members of news agencies and the press may submit inquiries to the Los Santos Police Department's Media Relations Division regarding information, comments, or meetings with a Media Relations Liaison, if the topic is intended for use by their agency.
    For news agents, this means:
    • You may only use the format designed for news agencies and members of the press if the information is intended to be used to write and publish a piece of media for the public, and that piece of media is being published through a news agency. You may only fill out the agency name in the title (Request Type [Agency]), and your position in the agency (Position in Institution (If Applicable):), if the inquiry is intended to be used for reporting purposes. The information obtained through the request may only be used for the news agency that is named in the request. You may not use this format if the request is for personal use; in that case, you must use the format for members of the general public without naming any institution.
For representatives of an institution, this means:
    • You may only use the format designed for members of an institution if the information is intended to be used for the institution that is named in the request, and that institution has a vested interest in the information obtained through the request. You may only fill out the name of the institution in the title (Inquiry Type [Institution]), and your position in the institution (Position in Institution (If Applicable):), if the inquiry is relevant to the institution you list. The information obtained through the request may only be used for the institution that is named in the request. You may not use this format if the request is for personal use; in that case, you must use the format for members of the general public without naming any institution.
