INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the LSEMS July 2022 press release! July has been a good month for the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services. We started off by hosting a large Code 1 Drill - You can read more about it here! - There have also been good changes and internal upgrades of procedures and division and we have rolled out a new service for the citizens of San Andreas. You can read more about that by reading the press release!
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH | JULY 2022

EMT Intermediate Ally Quinn

EMT Intermediate Ally Quinn joined the LSEMS in early May 2022 and passed her EMT certification a few weeks later. During her time in the department, she has grown to be an independent, robust, and trusted employee. In the middle of July, she joined the Crisis Response Unit and is now a First Responder, meaning she is tasked with responding to any urgent request for mental healthcare. Personally, I am looking forwards to seeing her expand her knowledge and hit her goals.

MENTAL HEALTH
“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.”

Our mental health is one of the two most important things in our lives, including our physical health. Many of us will at one point in our lives, go through periods that are more difficult than normal. Sadly, the old stigma around mental health is still present, and we are working hard to break it, allowing everyone no matter their gender, race, age, religion, or title to receive care when needed. At the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services, we have a team of first responders and therapists that are specially trained to provide the right kind of care when needed, and all you need to do is to either request an appointment or simply ask a medical professional if you see one.

There are things you can do when things are more difficult, you're waiting for an appointment, or want to maintain stable mental health.
  • Get regular exercise - This will allow your body to maintain itself, including giving you a natural sense of tiredness in the evening
Keep a balanced diet - Food are building stones for your body and you need it to maintain a good overall health
Get a good amount of sleep that fits your body and lifestyle
Do something nice for yourself every day
    Maintain your friendships
Write a letter to future you
Ask for help and accept it when it is offered - We are here for you
FIRE SAFETY
Do you own a property or a business? or are you a house owner wanting to improve and expand the fire safety in your area? We will give you some information and recommendations about Fire Safety and how to better it!

A golden rule is to have a working detection and extinguish system. Fire Alarms and Fire Extinguishers, including other types of fire safety equipment, can be bought in both the furniture stores and is easy to set up.

The Fire & Rescue Division has expanded its knowledge within fire safety and we are now offering all property, house, and business owners fire safety inspections to improve the overall safety. Simply, make a request providing some information regarding the area and submit it to us and we will be in touch with you shortly after to schedule it! The inspection is free, but there are some expenses bound to equipment and setup provided by the government.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF OF EMS
The month of July 2022 has been an absolute blast and I do not even know how to describe it. We have had a total of 16 promotions on both EMT and supervisory levels, we have introduced a new service to the citizens of San Andreas, including hosting two events, one internal and one external AND we appointed four new supervisor trainees who are currently about to finish, soon to be supervisors!

Sunday the 24th of July, Paramedic R. Raccoon hosted an internal event for the employees of the LSEMS. At Cassidy Trails, a competition was hosted to see who could go around the trail fastest on a scorcher. Luckily, no one got hurt during this event, but there sure were some close calls. After the race, it was set up a small hangout at one of the beaches around the trail, where the employees could hang out to music, drinks, and good food.

Internally, we are currently working on two "new" divisions, or rather, bringing them back to active operations. The Lifeguard- and Forensics Division. This will allow us to cover a larger area of assistance to the state, including giving new and current employees more opportunities to learn and grow their views, but also practice their leadership and communication skills.

It has been about three weeks since the state-wide code 1 drill and I am still proud of the cooperation and work all first responders provided at the scene. There have been numerous releases about or mentioning this event and you can see them here: Reading the different points of view from both field staff and leaders from the different government departments has really helped me understand the impact that the drill had on the departments involved. I truly believe that we all learned life-saving information and that we are better prepared for the future!
CLOSING MESSAGE
Thank you very much for reading this month's LSEMS press release! We are actively working on improving our newsletter and providing relevant information to you regarding the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services, but also how to take care of yourself and others in different situations.

“Kindness makes you the most beautiful person in the world, no matter what you look like.”
