      DUTIES
As a sworn member of the Los Santos Police Department, a Police Officer maintains order, enforces laws and ordinances, and protects life and property; issues citations, makes arrests, prepares reports, and provides information to the public and departmental units; works with neighborhood associations and community members as a planner, community organizer, problem solver, and information link; and does related work.

      REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      1. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
      2. Applicants must possess a valid State of San Andreas driver's license at the time of application.
      3. Graduation from a U.S. high school, G.E.D. or equivalent from a San Andreas High School Proficiency Examination (SAHSPE) certificate is required. A two or four-year college degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign institution may be substituted for the high school requirements.
      4. Applicants must possess United States citizenship, non-citizens must be permanent resident aliens who are eligible and have applied for citizenship, at the time of application. Residency within the State of San Andreas may be no less than 12 months to ensure adequate geographical awareness and knowledge.
      5. Applicants must not have been convicted of a serious crime, for which the punishment would have been imprisonment in the state prison. The Los Santos Police Department reserves the right to disqualify any applicant from the recruitment process for criminal charges that have not resulted in imprisonment in the state prison, along with excessive traffic infractions and other citations. In addition, applicants must be in good standing with no affiliations to (serious) criminal activity.
      6. Applicants must not be employed or involved in the application process for a different full-time position in the San Andreas Government (Los Santos County Sheriff's Department/San Andreas Department of Corrections/San Andreas Judicial Branch).
      7. Applicants must have their fingerprints stored in the law enforcement database prior to submitting their application.
      8. Applicants are expected to complete the interview and academy sections of their application process within 21 day periods. Applicants exceeding this time frame may be liable for withdrawal from consideration for employment by the Recruitment and Employment Division.
(( OUT OF CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS ))
      1. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
      2. Applicants who have previously been a member of the Los Santos Police Department must submit a reinstatement request prior to applying through the recruitment process, irrespective of their departure being In Character or Out of Character.
      3. Applicants must provide unedited screenshots where requested through the application process, with the only exception being that applicants are not required to include their account name in the screenshot of the game panel and may edit or crop this out.
      4. Applicants must be able to speak the English language fluently and be proficient with English grammar and spelling.
      5. Applicants must possess a functional microphone of adequate quality and be able to use the said microphone. Eclipse Roleplay is primarily a VOIP server. As such, it is expected of faction members to use their microphones.
        • Members of the Los Santos Police Department may use text chat to communicate as well, but the faction operates in such a way that during in-game incidents, such as but not limited to, vehicle pursuits and high-intensity incidents, microphone usage is required.

Text roleplay is equally important, and the ability of applicants to properly and coherently type sentences and roleplay actions (/me & /do) will be checked and tested during the recruitment process.
        • To facilitate the ability for players with speech impediments or other disabilities impacting their ability to communicate over VOIP to have the chance to join the Los Santos Police Department, a faction with otherwise mandatory microphone communication, players who for the aforementioned reasons are unable to communicate via microphone may request permission to join the faction irrespective of the microphone requirement from the Chief of Police.

When doing so, they should, however, understand that while the LSPD as a faction tries to accommodate, possible restrictions (such as voice-heavy divisions) may be imposed on the player based on the discretion of the commanding officers of the division. Furthermore, they may face difficulty in fast-paced incidents such as vehicle pursuits, hectic scenes, or when interacting with players on the server who do not pay much attention to text chat.
      6. Applicants agree to roleplay a realistic law enforcement character with consistent character development by applying to the Los Santos Police Department faction.
        • It is the goal of our faction to provide a realistic, high-quality, and immersive portrayal of a law enforcement organization within the United States, based on the Los Angeles Police Department. In applying to the faction, applicants must understand that there may be times when they experience an unpleasant situation, are disciplined, or have a voice raised against them in roleplay; this is entirely In Character and should be treated as such.

The Los Santos Police Department faction is always actively seeking roleplayers interested in the development of their character through their captivation in roleplay. We are looking for roleplayers who want to invest time into developing a realistic character portraying an American law enforcement officer while enjoying the game at the same time. Characters with flaws (i.e. positive and negative attributes) are essential to our goal of providing realistic, high-quality, and immersive roleplay portrayals of law enforcement. We look for characters with a realistic background, genuine attributes, and human emotions in order to keep faction standards at a reputable level.
      7. Applicants must be willing to dedicate at least 50% of their overall playing time to their character within the Los Santos Police Department faction. In addition, applicants must be able to dedicate at least 2.5 hours to roleplaying as a law enforcement officer per week.
        • Faction members may take out a Leave of Absence to take time away from their character or the server/game in general, during which the requirement is lifted for the duration of their absence request. Further information will be available to applicants who become a part of the faction.
      8. Applicants must be in good standing with the community and may be disqualified based on prior admin logs, as the Los Santos Police Department faction reserves the right to deny applicants for a poor record of admin logs. Applicants may not have any admin logs for a minimum of 30 days prior to the time of application.
      9. The Los Santos Police Department faction reserves the right to deny applicants that have previously been removed from another faction for Out of Character reasons, such as but not limited to, poor roleplay, poor Out of Character conduct, and toxicity. Our faction strives for a friendly and healthy environment, and applicants need to prove that they are capable of contributing to one.
      NOTES
      1. The Los Santos Police Department faction reserves the right to deny applicants for any reason, and to ban applicants from (re-)applying to the Los Santos Police Department, temporarily or permanently. These decisions may be appealed either through the Recruitment and Employment Division Command Staff or the Internal Affairs Group.
      2. Applications are accepted subject to review to ensure that minimum qualifications are met. Candidates may be disqualified at any time if it is determined that they do not possess the minimum qualifications stated on this listing.

(( REQUIREMENTS UPDATE 03/MAR/2022:
"Applicants may not have any admin logs for a minimum of 60 days prior to the time of application" has been adjusted from a 60-day minimum to a 30-day minimum.

This means that players who have received an admin punishment must now remain clean for 30 days instead of 60 days to be eligible for the Los Santos Police Department faction. ))

REQUIREMENTS UPDATE 01/FEB/2024:
"Applicants must not be employed or involved in the application process for a different full-time position" has been updated to remove the "San Andreas State Government" and by extension, the "Government Security Bureau", from the list; employees of said organization may now apply to the LSPD.

(( Furthermore, the microphone and VOIP usage requirement has been updated with the following information, covering requestable exceptions for players with speech impediments or other potential disabilities that would affect their ability to join the faction.
To facilitate the ability for players with speech impediments or other disabilities impacting their ability to communicate over VOIP to have the chance to join the Los Santos Police Department, a faction with otherwise mandatory microphone communication, players who for the aforementioned reasons are unable to communicate via microphone may request permission to join the faction irrespective of the microphone requirement from the Chief of Police.
