Los Santos County Sheriff's Department "A TRADITION OF SERVICE" Monthly Press Release May 5th, 2026 |

- Hello and welcome to the April 2026 Newsletter! As you might noticed, this release is a couple of days late, but this will be, we hope, a rare occurrence. It's finally May and as the weather app has predicted, it's warm and sunny in the county. Our deputies are preparing for the summer as we are in the midst of ordering new uniforms and adjusting our fleet. In this newsletter you will find the message from the Sheriff, our Deputy of the Month and rank adjustments!

- Back by popular demand, I return with the monthly message from the Sheriff!

Sheriff Ian Walter
April was a bit busier than last month. We started the month off with a little fun with our sister agency, the Los Santos Police Department, announcing the merger of our departments. I speak personally in saying I had a lot of fun participating in that April Fool's Joke (sorry to disappoint you, it was a joke). On a serious note, we did celebrate Easter this last month, and of course my birthday! I hope everyone had time to recognize both of these holidays!
San Andreas has finally entered recent times with the release of the new IFruit device and IFruit operating system. The new phones look very nice and was a much needed update to our old antiquated devices. We also saw some updates to our infrastructure at both of our stations to accommodate our bridge with the San Andreas DMV portal, so citizens can update their information and register their IDs with a new, secure, ID system, which also interfaces with the new phones. I am excited to see how this streamlines the efficiencies of identifying people through the use of the verified ID system.
We are officially transitioning to my favorite time of the year, summer! But first, as we approach May, we look forward to some key holidays, including Mother's Day and Memorial Day. If your mother is still around, make sure to spend some extra time with her, and give her some nice flowers. And as we get to the end of the month, we will take the time to remember and honor those who have given their lives in the service to our communities.
Thank you!

Sheriff Ian Walter
- Deputy Sheriff Frank Peters reinstated to the Los Santos Sheriff's Department in August 2025. Deputy Peters has proven to be a trustable and strong deputy and has chosen his path within the Special Enforcement Detail. He is also a member of the Traffic Services Detail, Air Support Bureau and the Field Training Bureau. We are happy to have Deputy Peters on the team and to congratulate them on the well deserved Deputy of the Month Award!

Deputy Sheriff MFTD Frank Peters
What is your favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD?
Getting to work alongside great colleagues and genuinely enjoying the job. I also really value going active as an SEB operative, where I can operate in high-pressure situations, utilise tactical gear, and provide aerial support when needed.
What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
Saving Sheriff Ian Walter during a Sierra operation while I was still a trainee. We successfully took down two OTF suspects with limited resources, which made it a high pressure but rewarding experience.
Was there a career setback you faced that you later realized was an advantage?
Being denied from FTD the first time. It delayed my progression, but it pushed me to improve, learn from my mistakes, and build confidence. In the long run, it made me a stronger candidate.
What goals do you have for your tenure within the Sheriff's Department?
I aim to progress within SEB and take on more responsibility, including making critical decisions and leading tactical situations. I believe SEB will provide the environment I need to grow and develop further.
What advice do you have for someone new to the department?
Be respectful to everyone and stay open to new ideas and perspectives. Take every opportunity you’re given and stay consistent. Progression comes naturally when you put the effort in.
Is there a quote that motivates you?
“Code 1, JTAC1.”
