  • Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to read our June newsletter!

As June rolls in, our department proudly takes extra steps to show our ongoing support for the LGBTQ+ community. We believe in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and equality, for both the communities we serve and the deputies who serve within our ranks.

Throughout Pride Month, you may notice one of our specially designed “Pride” cruisers patrolling the county. These vehicles serve as a visible reminder of our department's commitment to celebrating diversity. In addition, our deputies are encouraged to wear Pride patches during their shifts to show solidarity and support.

We’re proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community not just in June, but year-round. Thank you once again for taking the time to read this month’s release, and we hope you enjoy everything we’ve put together in this edition of the newsletter!
MESSAGE FROM THE SHERIFF

    Sheriff Bobby Kirk
As we close out the month of May, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past few weeks and share a few thoughts with both our community members and our team here at the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department.

May has been a relatively quiet month. Operations have continued smoothly, and we have not experienced any major changes in our structure, policies, or daily responsibilities. This kind of consistency is a reflection of the professionalism and dedication that runs throughout our department.

It is hard to believe we are already nearing the halfway point of the year. Time is moving quickly, and so far, 2025 has been a strong and rewarding year. One of the highlights has been watching several of our deputies grow from new trainees into confident and capable law enforcement professionals. That journey is always inspiring, and it is a privilege to witness. To all of our personnel, thank you for your continued commitment to the work we do and to the communities we serve. Your hard work and integrity make a difference every single day.

As we step into June, we are proud to recognize the beginning of Pride Month. The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department stands in full support of the LGBTQ+ community, both within our department and throughout the county. That support will be visible this month through changes to our uniforms and marked vehicles, serving as a public statement of unity and respect.

In addition to visible signs of support, we remain focused on building a department that reflects and respects the diversity of the communities we serve. This includes continued efforts to ensure our policies are inclusive and that our recruitment practices actively welcome individuals from all backgrounds. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and represented in their law enforcement agency.

Thank you for standing with us. Let us move into June with pride, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to service.

DEPUTY OF THE MONTH
  • Image
    Investigator Luca Andollini
Luca Andollini joined our department on March 21st, 2025, and since then has quickly become a cornerstone of our team. Driven by a strong passion for investigative work, Luca joined the department with the goal of pursuing a career within our Sheriff’s Investigation Bureau.

In just over 30 days, his dedication and performance earned him a well-deserved promotion shortly after transferring into our ranks.

Despite his busy schedule, Luca took the time to sit down with us for a brief interview to share his experience, motivations, and insights into life within the department.

What is your favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD?
The favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD is definitely the chill vibe I experience most of the time. Whether it's on the radio, regular patrol or on the scenes, it feels nice to be relaxed while doing my job!

What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
It definitely must be the search warrant executed on the property at Palomino Avenue in Vespucci. However, it's not the most satisfying situation as we lost a lot of good deputies and officers on the scene. My heart and prayers are with the families of the deceased.

Was there a career setback you faced that you later realized was an advantage?
I doubt there's anything that can set you back if you're pursuing certain career path. However, leaving the LSPD, I thought I left my friends and relationships built within the LSPD. I was questioning if I'm making the right choice and how will I fit in the Sheriff's Department. I'm happy to see that other members of the Department have accepted me as one of theirs since day one. I quickly made new friends and reconnected with some old ones.

What goals do you have for your tenure within the Sheriff's Department?
I'm on a good path to become full-time member of Gangs and Narcotics Division within Sheriff's Investigation Bureau. That is my primary goal and when I achieve that, I might think of something more. For now, I'm happy where I am.

What advice do you have for someone new to the department?
Do your best, but also make sure to have fun. However, be mindful when it's time to make jokes and fool around.

Is there a quote that motivates you?
There is, but I don't think it's appropriate to release it publicly :)
DEPUTY SPOTLIGHT
  • Image
    Deputy Sheriff II David Mathews
David Matthews is a recent reinstatement to the department, but since his return, he’s quickly become an integral part of the team. His friendly demeanor and consistently positive attitude bring a sense of energy and enthusiasm to every shift he works. He’s always the first to say, “Yes, how can I help?”—a true team player through and through.

When did you join the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department?
I reinstated back into the Sheriff's Department in April 2025.

What is your favorite thing about being a deputy at the LSSD?
Teamwork is one of my favorite aspects of the job, I truly enjoy working alongside others to get the job done. And the pursuits? Definitely an added bonus!

What is your most memorable moment while serving as a deputy for the LSSD?
I was in shootout, I was trying to conduct a traffic stop and they opened fire on me. Thanks to the backup i was able to end the threat before I was injured but that memory is still in the front of my mind.

Why did you become a deputy for the LSSD?
I previously served as a guard at SADOC, but I made the decision to transition out because I wanted to take a more active role in enforcing the law. There's a significant amount of gang violence in our state, and I’m committed to doing my part to help combat it and keep our communities safe.

Where do you see yourself in the LSSD two months from now?
In two months, I plan to pursue a position within the Field Training Division (FTD) to help train and guide new deputies. I’ve always seen myself as a trainer at heart, and I’m passionate about building up the next generation. After gaining some experience there, I’m also considering a future with the Advanced Training Division (ATD).

What do you like doing outside of work?
I spend too much time and money at High End, Love the night cruises.

QUESTION OF THE MONTH
  • Image
    -
As deputies, we spend a huge portion of our shifts in our cruisers—whether it's sitting on a speed trap or chasing down suspects in high-speed pursuits, nearly 90% of our time is spent behind the wheel. And let’s be honest, those cloth seats don’t come with many luxuries.
About a year and a half ago, Sheriff Kirk carved out some room in the budget to equip our fleet with car speakers—and it's been a total game changer out in the field. So, for this month’s “Question of the Month,” we asked our deputies: "Do you listen to music while patrolling? If so, what’s your go-to genre or favorite song?" We received over 25 responses, but we’re only able to highlight a select few.
    Here they are:

    Sheriff Bobby Kirk
Yeah, I do listen to music while patrolling. It helps keep the vibe right. My go-to really depends on the day. On a good Monday, it's death metal to get in the zone, usually something like Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse. Surprisingly calming when you're focused. Tuesdays are for country, and nothing beats Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver when you've survived another long shift. By Wednesday, the weekend's in sight, so I go lighter with Feather by Sabrina Carpenter or Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift. Thursdays get a bit moodier with Born to Die by Lana Del Rey or Ribs by Lorde. And on Fridays, it's a free-for-all. I throw on a chaotic playlist with everything from Master of Puppets to Shake It Off and just let the shuffle gods decide.

    Lieutenant Cliff Derringer
    No

    Investigator Dylan Chapple
Yes! Literally everything but recently its been Polo G, Juice Wrld, XXXtentaction

    Investigator Bunkie Johnson
    COUNTRY MUSIC, ESPECIALLY HIGHWAYMEN

    Deputy Sheriff II Will Grigg
No, I'm locked in on the task at hand

    Master Deputy Vince Taylor
EDM or Metal - anything high BPM to help me lock in
