The Los Santos Police Department's mission is to serve and protect the communities of Los Santos and surrounding areas, but we cannot achieve that mission without help. We aim to expand our department with frequent hiring's, our recruitment process is extremely rigorous but rewarding, we aim to find the best possible candidates to train, evaluate and graduate into the ranks of the Los Santos Police Department.

DUTIES

As a sworn member of the Los Santos Police Department, a Police Officer maintains order, enforces laws and ordinances, and protects life and property; issues citations, makes arrests, prepares reports, and provides information to the public and departmental units; works with neighbourhood associations and community members as a planner, community organizer, problem solver, and information link; and does related work.

SALARY

You start earning salary during the Police Academy, and the base salary for a Police Cadet is currently $48,000 - $50,000 annually, which will increase as you develop in your new career and achieve new positions and ranks.

  • Age: 20 years of age at the time of hire.
    • (( We strictly enforce an out of character age requirement of at least 16 years of age. ))
  • Citizenship / Residency: Must be an American citizen at the time of filling, and have been a resident of the State of San Andreas for no less than 12 months.
    • (( We strictly enforce 5000 experience as a bare minimum on the character you are applying for. The more experience, the better. ))
  • Multiple Employments: We do not hire employees that are employed or applying for other full-time positions in the San Andreas Government (LSSD/DOC) as this conflicts with our policy, regulations, procedures, and protocols. There are too many loopholes that can be exploited in our policies.
  • License: You must hold a full and valid driver's license with the State of San Andreas at the time of the filling. Your record should consist of good driving and no major or repeat traffic offenses. A background check will be performed after filling. Additionally, you will need to obtain a firearm's permit in order to carry a firearm off duty.
  • Criminal Record: You must have no serious criminal record and be a citizen in good standing. No matter how far back a serious criminal charge goes, it will still invalidate any attempts at becoming a Police Officer with the Los Santos Police Department. Additionally, you must also be a citizen in good standing - with no affiliations to serious criminal activity. A thorough background check will be performed after filling.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • You are required to fill in our application online, so understanding the basics of how computers work is a must.
    • All applicants are required to have their fingerprints stored in the database before submitting their application.
    • You are required to pass a thorough background check, where your criminal record, traffic offenses, previous employment, and potential criminal affiliation will be checked.
    • Should you pass the application stage, you must be able to attend a formal interview with a Recruitment & Employment Representative.

  • If you were previously a member of the faction and were discharged, whether it was IC or OOC, you need to file a request for reinstatement before going through the recruitment process.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age.
  • You must be able to speak the English language fluently and be proficient with English grammar & spelling.
  • You MUST have a functional microphone and be able to use your microphone to ensure that you have continuous character development - This is primarily a VOIP server, we expect faction members to use their microphones.
    • This does not mean that text role-play is not important. Your ability to perform character actions and describe environmental RP (/me & /do) will be checked during the recruitment process, should you pass the application stage.
  • You agree that you are able to roleplay a realistic character with consistent character development.
    • Important to understand; this is a law enforcement faction where we do our best to portray realistic a law enforcement Department in today's United States. You should understand that you might get yelled at, disciplined or simply experience unpleasant situations IN CHARACTER.
  • We reserve the right to deny you if you have been previously discharged from another faction for Out of Character reasons, e.g. poor RP/OOC conduct/toxicity. We strive for a friendly and healthy environment, you need to prove that you are capable of contributing to one.
  • If accepted you must be willing to put at least 50% of your overall playing time in to your PD character if you have other characters. This is because the demand for being in this faction is high, so we don't see it to be fair if someone joins and spends most of their time on their alternate characters when others would be willing to put much more time in to their PD character.
  • You cannot have any form of admin logs for a minimum of 60 days from the filing date. This may vary from person to person and you must be in good standing with the community. We reserve the right to deny applicants based on a poor admin record regardless of how long it was since your last punishment. This is a law enforcement faction that aims for high standards both in-character and out-of-character.

1. Application Stage
You submit the application on our website, online. Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by a Representative of the Recruitment & Employment Division of the Los Santos Police Department. The Representative will review the submitted answers and information, cross-check them with our selection criteria and perform any necessary background checks.

2. Interview Stage
If an applicant passes the application stage, they must then sit down with a recruitment representative for a formal interview. The formal interview will assess the applicant's ability to solve problems, their knowledge of our department and law enforcement in general, their interpersonal abilities and most importantly, their communication skills. There is no wrong or right answers during the formal interview, it consists of mainly hypothetical and open-ended questions. The interview is performed at the Los Santos Police Department based at our Mission Row Precinct. The interview will start promptly and applicants must arrive fifteen minutes before the interview for registration and a security search. A recruitment representative will test you on a series of questions to assess competencies, some questions will be focused on the applicant's professional background and various competencies. At this time, the Los Santos Police Department are unable to discuss specifics around competency testing. The applicant will be tested for drugs and alcohol on the day of the interview and may be subject to random tests throughout their career.

3. Academy Training
If an applicant passes the third stage of the recruitment process, they will have to sit through an academy with one of our Academy Instructors. The length of this academy varies depending on how many questions are asked, how many attendees there are, and if there are any other inconveniences along the way. The estimated time for an academy is 2 hours, give or take, so prepare beforehand.

4. Welcome to the Los Santos Police Department
Once an applicant passes all 3 stages of the recruitment process, they will be sworn in as a Cadet. As a Cadet, you still have a lot to learn and you will partake in the Field Training Program. You should be ready to face a period of 2-4 weeks of learning and assessments, this period may not be the funnest period in the department but it's worth it in the end.

How lengthy is the Recruitment Process?
Stages 1 - 2 is usually done within a week, whereas the third stage is dependent on how many applicants we have pending an academy. Academies are scheduled by the Academy Instructors, with the applicants - so depending on the number of applicants that are pending, it could take a while.

Q: What is the first step in the process?
A: Visit gov.eclipse-rp.net and follow the correct marked areas then fill out the online application.

Q: What does it mean to have a background befitting to become a police officer?
A: Los Santos Police Department is looking for individuals that demonstrate positive personal and professional growth and consistent adherence to the law.

Q: Can I be a correctional officer as well as a police officer?
You can not be an employee with the Department of Corrections as well as the LSPD ((on the same character applying to the LSPD)). If you are a current employee with the DoC, you must inform them that you plan to resign as a correctional officer should you successfully gain employment with the LSPD. This must be done before you are invited for an interview with the Los Santos Police Department.

Q: If I have too many tickets or a minor misdemeanour, will I have trouble becoming a police officer?
A: It is to be determined on a case-by-case basis, and it depends on the seriousness of the misdemeanour and on how many and how recently the tickets were issued. The reason for the ticket is also taken into consideration.

Q: What is the uniform policy?
A: You are required to wear a uniform unless you are a Staff Officer or a Police Detective in the Detective Bureau.

Q: Will my tattoos affect my ability to become an officer?
A: It depends on the nature of the tattoo(s). Candidates with tattoos are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Candidates with tattoos who are subsequently hired must ensure that the tattoos are not visible to the public while on-duty.

Q: Do I get paid while in the police academy?
A: Yes. Your start earning salary and benefits from your first day at the academy!

Q: How do I go on a police ride along?
A: You must visit our Ride Along Program on the Los Santos Police Department website and fill out a short form to apply for a ride along, which will be reviewed and a decision made by a Los Santos Police Department staff member. Applicants that are pending academy do not need to fill out an application to go on a ride-along.
