Welcome to our March 2021 press release, This month we have yet another interview with an inmate, this time a Maximum Security Inmate who's face and name we had to keep hidden for his own safety. We also cover more cellblock activities that we have been striving to maintain such as our inmate recipe of the month where we take something that an inmates has cooked in our inmate kitchen facilities and highlight it for all to see. There have been several notable promotions such as 1 new High Command promotion and 4 Divisional Command promotions all of which will be talked about below.
Image
Each month here at the San Andreas Department of Corrections we like to bestow an honor on this months best performing officer who has shown time and time again that they put maximum effort and commitment into their work. The officer selected for this prestigious award has proved themselves as a representation of how each officer working for our department should strive to be.

Employee of the Month March 2021
Image
We like to ask the employee of the month a few questions to get their perspective on the job and what makes a great officer, below is a few answers to common questions by our Employee of the Month:

Looking back, what are memorable achievements from your service so far?
My biggest achievement at DOC so far is my recruitment to HR. It gave me the ability to recruit and train people into the DOC and when they got employed I could train them as well.

Moving forward what are the next goals as a SADOC officer?
My next goals would be to become a supervisor, I am definitely trying to be that. And train as much applicants/officers as possible up to the point they would see me as a role model for the SADOC.

Any advice they would give to future prospects who might think about joining the SADOC?
Join the SADOC, it might not be for everyone but give it a try. Because you don't know if you like it or not unless you try it.

"He has constantly done superb HR work and his afro is always on point, even when it's raining."
- #521 2nd Lieutenant Kourtney Parrish

"Lasheek is a great guard who always completes his duties that are required. I just hope his head doesn't get bigger from getting this award."
- #04 Commander Solomon Cobb

This section is written by our head of Psych - 2nd Lieutenant Kourtney Parrish #521. It is an interview an unnamed Maximum Security Inmates that spends a lot of time at in one of our MSI cells. He is known for extreme violence and both the MSI and SADOC wish to hide his identity to protect them.
Unnamed MSI "Igor"

• Assistant Warden Cobb and I sat down and spoke with the MSI during time in solitary.

• Why do you do illegal things?
• It's a hard one. Basically because it pays more money than being legal. Once you go illegal there's no turning back.
Let me explain, once you're in debt. Everything goes to your debt. 40k, you need to earn 40k before you can buy food. You'll starve before you can eat.
Get illegal money so you don't have to pay taxes or debt as it goes to cash.

Editor note: This endless cycle of doing crime, getting into debt, then doing more crime to avoid the debt is a vicious one that we see a lot of inmates have, not just the Maximum Security Inmates. We have found that a lot of criminals that come through our doors have this as their main reason for doing crime. When they say "crime pays more", they generally mean the money is more accessible to them with it not needing to go to their debt.

• What's your favourite thing about DOC?
• Enjoying yoga class and using the gym.

Editor note: It is good for us to know that even our most violent inmates are finding some relaxing time with our new cellblock activities. We strive to keep a good level of mental health for those incarcerated with us for long periods of time.

• What's your least favourite thing?
• Being locked in a cell for 5 years straight and not getting any food. Likes to beat up goblins.

Editor Note: This is a classic case of actions having consequences, this particular MSI would not spend so much time locked in a cell if he spent less time beating up goblins.

• If you could change one thing about DOC, what would it be?
• Remove the MSI list, remove the HVT list. Let me be more free.

Editor Note: People's MSI profiles are updated with increased or reduced restrictions based on their activity at the prison. If they repeatedly are an issue with us then we will continue to restrict them, but if they show compliance when in prison some restrictions might be lifted. This is the case with Dimtri here who keeps getting restrictions added to him.

• What would you do if you were Warden for a day?
• Goblins would go to solitary, LostMC, MS-13, Kudo Kai, 67. Doug would go free and Russians would get special cells. Vodka in the store.

• Is there anything you'd like to tell people?
• Never surrender to the cops, never cooperate, stay quiet, don't do the crime if you can't do the time and always IA

Editor Note: Judging by his last complaints, I would not advise following these suggestions.

• Is there someone or something you miss while being in jail?
• My brothers.

• What would you do again before you were arrested?
• I would tell the driver to not crash the car or I will drive myself.

• What advice would you give to other criminals?
• Respect each other, it's very important. Don't go around beating up people. Don't become an MSI.

One of the most important parts of the SADOC is rehabilitation. Our officers are tasked with spending time with the inmates to try and steer them towards a more legal way of life. One of the best ways to do this is to ensure they don't act out when they're incarcerated at DOC.
Socialising
Socialising as an inmate is important. Not only does it help them make friends but it also helps their mental health.
The inmates are given the opportunity to meet those in similar situations with them and share stories with one another. Obviously this doesn't always go well and results in fights but Correctional Officers quickly break these up.
Some inmates like to use it for networking and hooks up for when they get out.
Movie Time
By far the easiest way to get the inmates to calm down is to put on a movie. The DOC has a large collection of films ranging from animated children's movies such as Shrek and the Bee Movie then to scary movies such as Click and various other Adam Sandler movies.
Assistant Warden Cobb was kind enough to lend the SADOC the password to his netflix account that the inmates use a lot to watch cartoons.
Cooking
Inmates can spend time inside of the kitchen learning how to cook for themselves, other inmates and even Correctional Officers. The SADOC pantry has a wide variety of ingredients.(See the below Soup section for a tasty soup recipe.)
Surprisingly, not many officers or other inmates get poisoned by other inmates cooking but when they do, CMT are on hand to help them.
Image
Exercise
There's a lot of time to kill in the prison, when the inmates aren't killing each other. A lot of them like to exercise either in the recreation room located near the kitchen and showers or out in the yard if the weather is nice.
The SADOC offers such equipment as pullup bars, weight racks, cycling machines and yoga mats. Guards can also utilise the equipment if there aren't many inmates.
Yoga is one of the most popular exercises to do as guards can get involved and teach the inmates. It's great for bonding.

Ghetto Brocolli Soup by Omari Qonder
This month's delicacy is Brocolli Soup that has been cooked in our own kitchen. Follow the steps below to make it yourself.
Serves 4 people
• Put water, 8 stems of broccili, 2 cups of vinegar oil and two squats of tabasco into a kettle.
• Put it on heat 4.
• Lay a cloth over it and insert dairy yeast if you want it to be more buttery.
• Leave it to cook for 10 minutes.
• Eat.
Image
Has your wife, brother, husband, sister, mother, uncle, friend or enemy ever been arrested and brought to SADOC? Well, you can visit them!
Image
Visitation at DOC is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, including holidays!
There is a requirement for at least two Correctional Offiers to be free to assist in visitation so if some aren't immediately available then feel free to come back later.

The rules for visitation are as follows:
• No physical contact
• No whispering
• No passing of items. Items that wish to be exchanged will be checked beforehand for contraband.
• Minimum time is 1 hour ((15 minutes OOCLY))
For those that like to exploit visitation, we have a blacklist in place that restricts certain individuals, such as our MSIs, from being able to be visited or visit. Visitation is a benefit and can be declined for any number of reasons.

Grounds Keeping
Since the tragic destruction of the old DOC building, Groundskeeping has been hard at work maintaining the new facility so it does not befall the same tragic fate. As the name suggests, they focus on keeping the grounds and ensuring everything is running in good condition.
Image
Weekly tasks
Groundskeeping offers weekly tasks for members of the Groundskeeping Division to take care of.
Weekly tasks such as repairing vehicles, ensuring all electrical equipment is maintained, replacing all food in the vending machines with vegan food and making sure the cellblock doors are oiled the correct amount.
There's no limit on the amount of weekly tasks that officers can perform.
Image
Work Orders
Officers are able to submit Groundskeeping Work orders when small issues arise inside of the SADOC. As the prison is such a big facility, things like to break a lot. When this occurs, groundskeepers are called to come and fix it.
We have had many work orders placed in the past for things such as curtains in the medbay to stop people from peeking in and rat poison when the DOC had its first of many rat infestations.

Below you can see an example work order:

With some officers leaving the last month or so, we have been left with a void in people who can give specific kinds of training to some of the newer officers. To fill this void we hired from an external source, Saadia Mizrahi, someone who has extensive history and experience in combat training, tactical training and weapons training. She was offered the rank of Corporal after fulfilling her basic training to get her up to speed with the processes of the SADOC.

#616 Saadia Mizrahi

This month our team building event organized by Captain Yuki Nakamura was at the beach where we rented some jet skis and had a nice beach party. As with all events, MD had to show up at one point from someone badly burning themselves on the campfire we had but they survived with minor injuries.

Following this event we went to the Pacific Bluffs country club event that was being hosted by Assured Services where the group of off-duty DOC officers could show support for local businesses as well as have a fun time!

LSEMS came to help but unfortunately a campfire is no match for a vehicle.

High Command

A word from #03 Solomon Cobb, the new Assistant Warden:
Image
I was recently promoted from the Commander of Special Divisions to the Assistant Warden, this is a great honor to have and I have some big boots to fill from the previous people in this role. I will, however, be making this role my own and making the most of my new powers and responsibilities to ensure the running of Bolingbroke Penitentiary keeps going smoothly and aiding in the needs of the officer, inmates, other LEO's and the general public.

Divisional Command

As well as the above High Command Promotion, we have had several new entries to our Divisional Command team:
• #431 Yuki Nakamura - Promoted from 1st Lieutenant of HR to Captain of GFO
• #499 Jorge Lewis - Promoted from Sergeant of GFO to 2nd Lieutenant of GFO
• #433 Nathaniel Grey - Promoted from 1st Lieutenant of HR to Captain of HR
• #521 Kourtney Parrish - Promoted from Sergeant of HR to 2nd Lieutenant of HR
A word from #521 Kourtney Parrish, 2Lt of Human Resources:
Image
I'm happy to be in Divisional Command although the lunch options are still the same. I now have a larger impact on the little boy and girl CO's and try my hardest to ensure that they all do well. There are always a few bad eggs but I usually blame other people for them, like #499.
7/10 would recommend but only if you bring your own lunch to work.

We like to think of the DOC as a well-oiled machine and hold all of our officers up to a set of standards outlined by our CDRILS, our core set of principles.
