San Andreas State Government

  • The San Andreas State Government in accordance with the Los Santos Police Department and the Los Santos County Sheriffs Department is pleased to announce a change to the speed limits around the state as listed below:

    • The City of Los Santos speed limit will increase from 70 km/h to 80 km/h.
    • Outer city and country road speed limits will increase from 110 km/h to 120 km/h.
    • Highway speed limits will increase from 130 km/h to 145 km/h.

This overall increase of all speed limits within the state comes following significant review of citizen driving patterns, speeding violations, and public opinion. Over time it has become evident that present limits have felt overly uncomfortable to drivers and as a result of this discomfort, people began disregarding safe driving practices as established by the Department of Motor Vehicles. To ease this discomfort and promote increased compliance with traffic laws, the decision to slightly raise the limits came to fruition.

With announcement of these changes, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everybody about some safe practices when navigating all roads be it paved or dirt.

    • Always buckle your seat belt when operating a vehicle for appropriate safety. If driving a motorcycle or bike, do be sure to wear a secured helmet.
    • Maintain travel within your lane to avoid collisions.
    • Slow your vehicle over a distance when approaching a yellow to red transitioning light as opposed to forcefully depressing your brake. This will increase longevity of your brakes and decrease the chance of driver and passenger injury.
    • Listen for sirens from emergency vehicles and pull over to allow for safe passage as they approach.
    • Only turn right on a red light after ensuring there is no oncoming traffic approaching and your line of travel is safe.

Safety is always our top priority, and we’re working hard to maximize our potential within the boundaries of stringent safety standards. Cars have come a long way in safety and performance since the original speed limits were first put in place, and some speed-regulating standards have become heavily out-dated. We’re taking a fresh look, with no compromise to safety, at how to make safe driving a more convenient option for our citizens, reduce delays, and get people to their destinations quickly and safely.

The changes to the speed limits will be officially enforced by law enforcement and automatic speed cameras effective from today's date. Thank you to each and every citizen for your support and dedication to improving our state. The San Andreas State Government wishes you safe travels and continued success.
