HIDE AND SEEK EVENT

  • This month, a Department-wide off-duty hide-and-seek event was organized by Mission Row Patrol Division Command in conjunction with Media Relations Division. The event took place on Sunday, March 14th at 21:00. The objective in this event was to hide in a designated area for as long as possible without being found. There were various prizes to be won throughout the event.

The attending officers met up at 21:00 at the Mission Row Parking Lot. From there, the officers were transported by busses which were kindly provided by the Downtown Cab Company to the designated area, which was around the lumber yard mill around Paleto Bay. During the event, the attending officers were being found by-Chief of Police Alex Donnelly, Deputy Chief Phillipe Sanchez and Sergeant Darion Rueb. Attending officers were joined by Commissioners Samuel Osborn and Lewis Langley.

The event was spearheaded by the Commanding Officer of the Mission Row Patrol Division, Lieutenant Grace Hunter:
The idea behind these events is to give officers an avenue to unwind and de-stress from their hectic, long shifts serving and protecting the citizens of Los Santos. All officers get to come together, get to know each other and have fun using basic team-building skills to improve relations, bonds and skills. Our daily work is tough, following strict protocols and this allows people to relax in a controlled safe environment.

Keeping morale high and stress low is one of the main responsibilities I hold myself accountable for, so seeing everyone laughing, having fun and building friendships is the reason for these events. It not only increases morale's between the officers but also improves on their day-to-day skills that we use in this field of work.
    --
The event saw a lot of laughter, joy and most importantly team-building. The first round was won by Officer Bailey Snow and the second a split tie between Sergeant Torsten Church and Officer Alex Stevens. We would like to congratulate the winners, as well as thanking everyone involved for their presence. We hope to see you all at the next event!

OFFICER OF THE MONTH

Image
-
  • Each month, one officer is selected by our Police Supervisors to receive this most prestigious award. This award is an overall congratulation for universal commitment, achievement, and excellence throughout the department. An officer who achieves this award is an exemplary member of the department who should be looked up to as an inspiration and role-model.

    Detective I Charlemagne Coyer
Detective Coyer, a well-versed role model of the Detective Bureau and the Gang and Narcotics division, performed on an exemplary level for the month of March. Detective Coyer has put up eye-catching numbers how in the field, that in the office. Ever since enlisting in the in Police Academy in July 2020, Detective Coyer had shown remarkable fidelity to the Los Santos Police Department as a whole. Consistent work has allowed Detective Coyer to reach the rank he currently holds in 6 months' time, an impressive feat. Detective Coyer was a member of the Vice Unit of the Major Crimes Division since late January, but later found his role as a Gang Detective.

Showing great poise as a liaison for the Media Relations Division, Detective Coyer continually worked toward bettering himself in all aspects of policing, and has recently become a certified Spokesperson for the Department, a highly regarded position. Amassing a collective of 13 Field Training Program contributions in the month of March alone, Detective Coyer is also a recipient of the Distinguished Field Training Officer award.

Detective Coyer's sizable contributions to the Detective Bureau, Media Relations Division and Field Training Program are a result of his outstanding work ethic, determination, and confidence, traits of a true role model. 134 shift hours, an average of 33 hours a week, 133 pieces of optional paperwork and impeccable divisional contributions are one of the many reasons Detective Coyer is the Officer of the Month of March. Congratulations, Detective!

FEATURED DIVISION

  • The Metropolitan Division, commonly known by the abbreviation
    Image
METRO, falls under the Special Operations Bureau within the Los Santos Police Department. METRO is tasked with numerous crime-fighting duties including property breaches, surveillance, providing counter-terrorism details, and attending high-risk barricaded situations such as a hostage situation. It, therefore, is one of the most specialized divisions the Los Santos Police Department has to offer.

The mission of the Metropolitan Division is to support the Department’s community-based policing efforts to reduce the incidence and the fear of crime on a Citywide basis. This is accomplished by developing and deploying a reserve force of the most highly trained and disciplined personnel possible to shut down organized criminal acts.

METRO consists of a few platoons, of which the D platoon is the most known. D Platoon is the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Los Santos Police Department. D Platoon provides the Department with 24-hour coverage necessary for immediate response to barricaded suspects, shootouts, crisis and hostage negotiations, potential suicide-related situations, and other high-risk incidents. Rapid deployment, surprise attacks, extensive tactics training, and thorough planning are all parts of successful SWAT operations. The SWAT team also incorporates highly trained officers as Crisis Negotiators. These officers utilize special training and verbal tactics to talk violent persons or persons experiencing behavioral health crises into surrendering to law enforcement.

    Image

Captain Victor Einhart has been the Commanding Officer of the Metropolitan Division ever since its establishment, and has a clear mission for his Division:
The Metropolitan Division has always remained vigilant in response to organized crime and violent action. Our personnel are highly motivated and train constantly for new threats that arise, and we are always developing new tactics to employ in the field. We take our role very seriously and continue to strive for excellence both individually and as a team.

I would like to mention Officer Jamie Richardsons, who was recently recognized by the department for his life-saving actions in a prolonged firefight against armed gunmen and awarded the Sharpshooter Award. His skill with the sniper rifle provided critical protection and saved the lives of Police Department and Sheriff's Department personnel that were involved, and are in keeping with our highest traditions of service. We are in his debt.

To join the Metropolitan Division, members of the Los Santos Police Department must hold the rank of Police Officer II at minimum. Recruitment is very strict and only the most promising are accepted. Applicants subject to an extensive written test as well as a personalized background check. If passed, the officers attend various training courses, designed to let only the best of the best pass.

FEATURED EMPLOYEE

  • Police Officer III Grace Morris comes from Sicily, Italy, and moved to Los Santos in early 2020. Before starting her career as an officer, she were a mechanic at the Los Santos Customs. After witnessing first hand how officers operate from her position at the workshop, Officer Morris found her calling and join the Los Santos Police Department in the Fall of 2020. She has since risen through the ranks and achieved her current position as a Police Officer III.

    Police Officer III Grace Morris
Officer Morris, who previously had no prior background in law enforcement, knew that her journey wasn't going to be easy. She had to change a lot of things in her lifestyle in order to be able to join the department. One of her hardest choices was having to let go of those who didn't support her decision to join. However, she was motivated to endure the process so that she would be able to make a difference in people's lives, regardless if they knew or not.

Officer Morris is currently assigned to the Gang Field Unit under the Gang and Narcotics Division. Her primary assignment as a Gang Officer is one that provides a unique perspective to the job compared to that of a regular patrol officer. Her daily tasks consist of counteracting the violent gang members that plague Los Santos, be it actively or passively. The occupation also comes with its own hazards, as she mentions that a simple traffic stop could escalate to a situation that would be dangerous for her.

Officer Grace Morris wrote: Being a Police Officer will not always be an easy job. Enforcing the law for the sake of people’s safety will not always guarantee being seen in good light, cause sometimes it’s not gonna be understood. Depending on how you’ll relate yourself, there will be cases where the pressure and the people’s malicious words will eventually get through your head. But being part of the Department, doing this job, will bring you the biggest satisfaction you could ever ask for, having your work being recognized not only by your colleagues but also by all the people you’ll help on a daily, leaving a smile on their faces.

Besides her contributions to the Gang Field Unit, she is also an active part of the Field Training Division. Officer Morris feels that it is crucial to teach new members of the department the things that she has learned as an experienced officer. Guiding them through their field training program to the best of her ability is an important contribution to upholding the high standards of the Los Santos Police Department.

During the month of March, Officer Morris had several achievements that she could be proud of. At the beginning of March she was promoted to the internal rank of Gang Officer within the Gang Field Unit, from her previous entry-level position of Probationary Gang Officer. She was also given a departmental upgrade to the rank of Police Officer III during the same month. Her new position as a Police Officer III gives her an additional chevron, indicating her position as a senior officer. She was also certified for a Motorcycle Response Unit and a Heavy Interceptor Unit in the month of March.

Her aspirations in the department lie within the Detective Bureau. Officer Morris plans to apply and hopefully join the Detective Training Program and start her journey in becoming a full member of the prestigious bureau, expanding upon her current position as Gang Officer. She has also set her sights to the Supervisor Training Program, which she hopes to join once she becomes a detective. We would like to wish Officer Morris good luck in achieving her goals and congratulate her on her achievements so far.

FEATURED INCIDENT

  • High Speed Pursuit Intercepted - Pacific Bluffs
    From Week Report 2111
At 1910, a traffic unit stationed at Los Santos Customs got a hit on a license plate for an active warrant. The unit performed a 10-55 of the white 8F Drafter as it was leaving LSC, and called for an additional unit due to the warrant. Once the additional unit arrived and the driver was asked to leave the vehicle, the driver took off, and a pursuit was initiated. Due to the high top-end speed of the vehicle, and the extremely reckless nature of the driver, the lead unit lost visual as the suspect made a series of sharp turns in the Vespucci area. The lead unit called out the last known heading of the vehicle, and seconds later, a responding unit was able to locate the vehicle once again, and a third unit quickly backed them up. The helicopter unit gained visual as the suspect proceeded northbound and out of city limits.

As the driver headed southbound on Great Ocean Highway, a unit located in the city quickly took initiative to set up a roadblock. The roadblock was effective and the suspect lost control of the vehicle and stalled it. The suspect drew a gun on officers as they stepped out of the vehicle, and officers immediately opened fire, taking the suspect down. No officers were hit in the process. The suspect was arrested and medical treatment was rendered. Following a trip to the hospital, the suspect was transported to Bolingbroke to serve several years for evading, reckless endangerment of the public, and shooting towards the officers.
