END OF TURBULENCE

  • Following the dissolution of two of the most notorious street gangs, Los Aztecas and La Familia, the volatile rise of gang violence has come to an end. The Detective Bureau of the Los Santos Police Department, predominantly the Gang and Narcotics division along with the recently introduced Gang Field Unit, have worked extensively towards thwarting gang operations as a whole and dismantling the backbone of gang influence. The two groups previously mentioned have officially ceased to exist since they rose to power in early September, 2020.

The month of February has seen multiple investigations on some of the most hardened criminals in Los Santos. Over 16 cases were being investigated, with most of them leading to large scale confiscations of illegal items, be it weaponry or narcotics. Searches were conducted following warrant requests approved by the Board of Commissioners, and recently the San Andreas Judicial Branch, which we will continue working together with going forward for the betterment of the city.

Gangs are still present in Los Santos but with a significant and visible loss of power in recent months. The General Operations Bureaum the Special Operations Bureau METRO division, and the Detective Bureau have made a staggering number of gang-related arrests in the month of February alone. The Los Santos Police Department will continue to tackle gang violence and influence for as long as it is needed with new, innovative and advanced tactics.

OFFICER OF THE MONTH

Each month, one officer is selected by our Police Supervisors to receive this most prestigious award. This award is an overall congratulation for universal commitment, achievement, and excellence throughout the department. An officer who achieves this award is an exemplary member of the department who should be looked up to as an inspiration and role-model.

Police Officer II Denzel Black joined us from the state of Texas, where he was serving in the United States Air Force. After leaving the military, he moved to San Andreas where they joined the Los Santos Police Department in the month of December 2020. He has since worked himself up to their current position. Officer Black regularly files a staggering amount of paperwork, running at the top of the Department, and demonstrating an excellent level of detail. His hours are consistent and impressive, and has shown to be a model employee for the Department.

Recently being upgraded to Police Officer II, he now has the options of joining the different divisions within the department. Officer Black is sought after by divisions, yet continues to excel in his General Operations Bureau duties. Officer Black has also joined the Field Training Division, and the Cadets enrolled in the Field Training Program will surely benefit from his guidance.

We are very proud of what Officer Black has achieved so far and are looking forward to what the future holds for him. As a reward, Officer Black will receive a salary increase through the month of March.

FEATURED DIVISION

  • The Firearms Licensing Division, commonly known by the abbreviation FLD, falls under the Administrative Services Bureau inside the Los Santos Police Department. The FLD is the entity that regulates the provision of firearms licenses for the populace of San Andreas. It is therefore the division that most civilians will encounter, especially if they are interested in obtaining such a license.

Licensing officers are the ever diligent individuals behind the screen who are constantly reviewing the gargantuan amount of firearms licensing applications received by the LSPD. This team consists of officers who hold the rank of at least Police Officer II and who have shown to be the most proficient and accurate with paperwork out of the whole Department.

First and foremost, the FLD processes applications from civilians who attempt to obtain a regular firearms license for the first time. Secondly, the FLD also process applications from former firearms permit holders in the re-issurance of these permits in close cooperation with the Gang and Narcotics Division from the Detectives Bureau. Last but not least, the FLD processes missing firearms reports digitally as well.

On October 29, current Commanding Officer Police Detective III Samuele Colonna took over the lead of the division with a clear and ambitious new vision for the FLD that would reflect positively onto the Los Santos Police Department as a whole. Detective Colonna had the following to say about the FLD:
The Firearms Licensing Division is a relatively new division, created to regulate the acquisition and use of firearms licenses. Initially, only some citizens were able to apply due to the strict requirements. We however introduced more types of applications to accommodate people with different backgrounds. Our evolution is continuous so expect more changes that will help us educate the public and turn our city into a place where firearms are used to keep each other safe. On a last note, I would like to thank the ex-Commanding Officer of FLD, Captain Cynthia Shelby, and all the Staff Officers for turning a pile of papers into the division we see today.

Interested in obtaining a personal firearms permit? If so, a good place to start out would be to read the Beginner Guide to Owning a Firearm. Additionally, if you want to obtain a firearm it is required to know which firearms are legally obtainable, information which can be found in the Roster of Firearms Certified for Sale. Before filling out your application and passing the quiz, it is necessary to understand when you are legally allowed to use your personal firearm. This information can be found in the Self-Defense & Citizens Arrests-section. When you have read through these sections and understand the content, you are all set to apply for your firearms permit here.

To this date, the FLD has processed a grand total of 9791 firearms applications. The FLD team is always ready to serve the interested public in obtaining a firearms permit. We would like to wish the entirety of FLD the best of luck in reviewing the upcoming applications.

FEATURED EMPLOYEE

  • Police Officer III Guilherme Tavares grew up on Lajes Air Fields in the Azores, a United States Air Force Base. Growing up in such a military environment, it was only natural that Officer Tavares first started his Law Enforcement Career in the military. However, after a few years he realized the military was not the perfect place for him to settle in and he made his decision to migrate to Los Santos in 2019.

Officer Tavares realised he wanted a career that focused itself on helping people, rather than military warfare. After a short while staying in Los Santos, Officer Tavares came across advertisements from the Los Santos Police Department academy. He made a life-changing decision and wrote himself up for the academy for employment. According to himself, the prospect of helping the people of San Andreas still excites him to date.

After graduating the academy, Officer Tavares worked hard to get through his Field Training Program. He quickly rose through the ranks and joined several divisions. The three divisions Officer Tavares has been the most active for throughout his career in the Los Santos Police Department are the Firearms Licensing Division, in which he worked his way up to a Senior Licensing Officer, the Traffic Enforcement Division, in which he had worked himself up to the rank of Traffic Inspector, and the Field Training Division, where he earned Field Training Officer of the Month twice in a row.

Officer Tavares about his employment at the Los Santos Police Department:
Throughout my career, I have come to realize I work for a cause, not for applause. When I find students I taught become Cadets and Cadets I trained becoming Officers, I know that what I am doing is right and that they will be there to serve the society and prepare the next generation of officers alongside me. That is one of the best feelings you can have - to know you are making a difference in people's lives without anyone needing to tell you that.
Being asked about his proudest achievement, his answer was clear: the Exemplary Field Training Officer Commendation Award. During his time as a Field Training Officer, Officer Tavares performed a total of 21 Field Training Sessions and 70 Field Training Reports, an exceptional amount which makes him one of the most prolific Field Training Officers the Los Santos Police Department has to offer its Cadets.

In the month of February, Officer Tavares was part of a team of Police Detectives that worked on two seperate cases involving an armed bank robbery. Due to the units' hard work, the suspects in both cases were found, proven guilty of the crime and charged accordingly, which is a fantastic highlight for both Officer Tavares himself as well as the other members of the unit.

In relation to his future in the Los Santos Police Department, Officer Tavares is working hard to make a promotion into the Police Detective branch, as well as making progress in the Recruitment and Employment Division. Officer Tavares joined the latter division recently and has already become very active. Later on in his career, Officer Tavares hopes to be accepted into the Supervisor Training Program. We would like to thank Officer Tavares for his time and to wish him the best in his career, whatever it may bring him.

FEATURED EVENT

  • Drug Lab Accident - Rockford Hills
    From Week Report 2105
At around 2100, witnesses called 911 to report a fire and explosion originating from an apartment in the prestigious Richards Majestic apartment building in the affluent neighborhood of Rockford Hills. LSPD officers closed down the area immediately surrounding the building while first responders of the LSEMS bravely entered the building and cleared the worst of the fire and smoke to allow for the safe entry of officers. After gathering specialized equipment, officers broke into the apartment to clear it for the safety of the first responders, and to allow the first responders entry into locked areas.

Strangely enough, officers discovered security doors and rough fencing throughout the upscale apartment, and were shocked to discover drug manufacturing equipment, which was determined to have caused the fire. The equipment, as well as quantities of marijuana, was removed from the apartment, confiscated, and destroyed. Damage appeared very expensive, but thanks to incredible fortune, was seemingly contained to the private property of the apartment owner, and neither structural damage nor fire appeared to have spread out of the single apartment, which would have caused immeasurable damage for countless innocent civilians. The incredible recklessness and irresponsibility of operating dangerous drug manufacturing equipment is evident here, and serious charges are bound to be pressed following the investigation into the incident.
